Quite a deal, wish we got such cheap flying here

Nice 172, especially with the D engine and low airframe time. However, I'd be looking carefully at its' corrosion levels as it might not have been in the dry California climate all its' life. Also, it will probably take around another $25,000 to get it on line here...... very variable reports on this.

In any case, will it really be cheap to fly? Cheaper than what? Still uses the same fuel and oil, 100 hrlys still cost the same, insurance on a $70k aircraft is still going to be hefty...perhaps $4000 pa as a guess for private use.

happy days,

Insurance may not be quite that steep Poteroo. We pay $2,500 for $130,000 cover on our RV9A. This is in a group sceem mind. As you say other costs will be (and are) similar.

Cheers

I purchased one from the USA last year and brought it over. Add $30K to purchase price and you are in the ball park.

But as first mentioned, if you lived in the States. What a great offer.
