For the DHC Beaver fans

Yep and a mate of mine was a part owner in Sydney Harbour Seaplanes some years ago and I flew with him many times in the Beaver (on floats), they are a great old machine. I have flown in them in Alaska more recently.

They were used in Agriculture all over Australia and a neighbour of mine up near Walcha, David Salter was responsible for some very early development work on the Beaver in the agricultural area. Tragically David and Caroline's only son was killed in a Beaver accident at only 21 years of age; I cannot imagine how difficult that would be to recover from. Apparently you can still buy new parts for them.

A good example DHC-2 on floats will still set you back $500,000 ... hard to believe for a 50 year old aeroplane.
