Hi Aviators, Flyers and Others.

After a long absence from this exellent site, due to unforseen circumstances, most of which have now been resolved. I now am able to once again dwell amongst fellow flyers.

My name is Steve Vette and now live a little south of York in WA. Home airfield is still Northam WA

and operate my Thruster T 500 from there. It was not long ago that with the assistance from the owner we rebuild a t 500 from the ground up and is now flying happily further nor-east from here. The cooler days are getting closer and the flying conditions are improving day by day.

Very soon we will be able to exend our flying hours to cover most of the day.

Anyway it is good to be back.

Cheers for now.

Steve.

Welcome back to the forums Steve.

Remember, it it always better to have strayed, but returned, than never have returned to the fold.

The T500 Thruster is a great basic aircraft, and I hope it gives you lots of safe fun, which is what it's all about.

G'day Steve,

Welcome back to the forums here, I've been keeping a lookout here for you under your other member name but now I know who you are:wink:

That would be my T500 we rebuilt, and it's flying beautifully too! Poll and I flew around for an hour or so last Sunday, and I ended up doing 2hrs+ before a few rain showers saw us back in the hangar.

I'm looking forward to picking you up when we can arrange a trip to North Gabbin for your inspection and test flight in Poll's Gemini. It will be good to see it in the air after all the work that you and Poll have done on it too.

I'll be in Northam on Saturday and will most likely visit the airfield to see who's around, hopefully I'll catch up with you there.

Cheers Steve,

Pud

Thank you for your kind words of welcome. The stray bit came about when we moved from S E Queensland to Northam in WA.

A year or two ago saw us moving about a bit in Northam, and as you can well imagine, the stress it placed on the wife and myself was great.

We are now settled on a small property 12 km south of York WA and enjoy the peace and serenity of country living and loving it.

Cheers for now.

Steve.

Hi and thanks Pud.

It is great to be back and see the changes that have taken place. It has taken a while to set up house and change all utilities including a new phone line and connection. The phone was installed just 4 days ago and the internet yesterday at midday.

Im please to hear that you are enjoying your T 500 and you are getting some flying time in.

We may see you at Northam this weekend as we will be visiting our newborn grandson.

Cheers for now.

Steve.

Steve.

I called into the airfield around 10am Saturday Steve, had a walk around but nobody there - even Graeme King was absent. Has he gone to the Eastern States for his visit yet?

I won't be there Sunday as we have an appointment Sunday morning at a restaurant for breakfast:smile:

Have fun,

Pud

I have quite often flown into Northam to get out and stretch the legs. BUT every time I have been there it is deserted.

Are there any activities planned during the year.

Do they have an active club, or regular fly ins.

Hi Keith.

Northam has a GA and Ultralight flying school and an active club with over a 100 members. The flying schools are only there if there are trainees to teach, the Jandacot RAC fly in 2-3 times a day during the week. The Northam Aero club have a flying comp every 2nd sunday, with a bbq after the event, and hold a post mortem after the the event to pinpoint the various errors and omissions (and to rectify) the actions of some of the members taking part of the event.

At the weekend there usually are a number of A/C that fly in from all over and some ultralight A/C buzz the sky in multiple crafts from Jabs Microlights and Thrusters.

Once a year they hold a Dawn raid where Jandacot A/C fly in for a bbq breckie and show off their pride and joy, hold comps like spot landing, glide approach, best time in the circuit and so on. The overall winner gets to hold the throphy for 12 months until the next dawn raid.

There are 2 balooning outfits that are very active in the colder months of the year and some days there could be as many as 4 baloons drifting over Northam and the surrounding country side.

There is a bar facility that trades Saterday and Sunday from 500 pm till 700 pm where members go to partake of the amber stuff and tell whopping yarns about their past conquests. BBQ are held 2 a month and a Xmas bash for the little ones

I must agree that at times the airfield appears to be deserted, but if you walk about a bit you will always find someone to talk to.

Hope this is of some help.

Cheers.

Steve.

Welcome back Steve.

Your name is familiar, but I cannot remember where I have heard it before. Were you involved in ultralight flying way back?
