Guest aussieaviatrix Posted August 27, 2012 Share Posted August 27, 2012 Hi Everyone, I'm still quite new to the site, and yet to have a decent look around but thought I'd pop on and introduce myself anyway. Became interested in aviation through good old Biggles -- my Dad read my sister and me our first Biggles books when I was about 12, which lead to an interest in WW 1 aircraft, then to the Battle of Britain and other historic aircraft. I had no interest in learning to fly for myself until my parents shouted me a Trial Introductory flight for my 14th birthday.... that was the beginning of the end! Now some years on from there, I've been flying Drifters for a bit over a year, and still working towards my certificate. I find what should be my priorites and what I want to be my priorities are two entirely different things -- that is, life and study just keep getting in the way!! facthunter Posted August 27, 2012 Share Posted August 27, 2012 Aviatricks you have wowed them already. Flying a drifter is"cool" and it will make a better driver of you than some other planes . Don't make what could be fun into something you have as a job unless you really think it will work. Thanks everyone for the welcome -- yes I am a huge Biggles fan! And, just for the records, Algy is the true hero! My learning experiences? Well I'm always up for a ride whenever I get the chance, so I'd had numerous joyflights/TIF's before I actually started learning at Clifton about May last year. Due to the craziness of the final year of school, training was broken up quite a bit, so finally went solo in early February this year. Now bordering on my certificate, I've come to a halt yet again because of Uni....had my last flight for a while on the weekend, so I'm currently displaying withdrawal symptoms...... Priorities girl! Who cares about Uni anyway.... Wish I didn't have to!! But in short it goes: no uni = no job, no job = no flying, and that's the sad story of it! But someone has to carry it on, and most of the young people these days are dead beats (geez this makes ME sound old) and i wouldnt trust them to drive a lawn mower, let alone an aircraft! Best wishes kaz Kaz, you've inspired a domestic between dear wife and self as regards what basis AA should be wary of me. I prefer that her caution should be lothario-based but dear wife opts for grumpy old curmudgeon (even added in something about smelly). We need some specific criteria here or I may have to cook my own tea. Despite all of that, welcome on board Miss AAviatrix. Hopefully both Drifters & Biggles books will help you maintain your equilibrium during uni. Great to have you on the forums.
