Jabiru Prop Bolt Failures

Hi,

 

I'm trying to scour the world and find out how many of these occurences there have been.

 

- Prop bolt failures (usually resulting in the prob flying off)

 

- Prop flange bolt failures (likewise!)

there are a number of these failures which I know about including a couple I have previously posted here on the website as a safety issue. There is also a class action out of Arizona for several fatalities blamed on this exact reported failure. About 4 or 5 years ago the lawyers approached me for additional information about some failures of the propellers on X-Airs when fitted with the Jabiru engine. We declined to offer them any assistance because we simply didn't know enough about the problem to give them any sensible advice. I will dig out their details and let you know.

 

I hope there is not a big rush of these happening again.... the last failure I heard of the propeller simply departed along with the flange
