No Ross, health issues have cost me most of what I had tucked away for retirement, but at least i'm grateful to still be here:cheers:

Sorry to hear that Planedriver....if your ever in the North I 'd be more than happy to show you the countryside from the Lightwing, and a cold beer afterwards.........Cheers Ross

Got my GA licence 42 years ago, but life got in the way and it lapsed.

Renewed it 25 years ago (had to resit the exams) but it lapsed again.

Joined AUF 22 years ago to fly Drifters, but life got in the way again.

Then I found out that my GA licence had unlapsed and was now perpetual. Started flying again.

Got my RAAus pilot certificate seven years ago.

Bought an LSA three years ago.

Flew to Flinders Island and back this week with my wife and some mates in their own planes.

I reckon if you want to fly you will find a way even if it takes decades. Let people know the path and they will follow it.

I reckon almost nobody wants to join RAAus, any more than people like paying, say, vehicle rego.

RAAus is merely an administration body.

It's purpose is to be a vehicle for career advancement of it's employees.

The organisation promotes a false veneer of being, somehow, club like.

In truth, its 'membership' and indeed, it's franchise, would evaporate overnight if a better option came along.
