Promoting the Drifter! What have you done?

These two guys are a couple of young German backpackers I took up a few months ago. While they were over here they stayed with my immediate neighbor, Bruno Jung, saw me flying and couldn`t resist the temptation to come and see if I`d take them up.

Bob, I think I know which story you`re talking about, if it is, I posted the photo on the forum somewhere quite a while back, don`t have a clue where to find it though. I`ve got it on my computer but havn`t been able to find there either.I took this photo of Ron few months ago. He`s eighty four and half and still flying fairly regularly.

Serious Frank, I constantly read posts of others doom and gloom about costs or incidents or worse, political stuff, and then I come here and am just mesmerized by what I see and want to be up there with you.

You're doing much more than promoting the Drifter.

Seriously Mark, I appreciate what you have said! If you are ever in the Cairns area, get in touch and all things being equal, it will be,up,up and away, won`t cost you anything and we`ll do a bit of real flying.

Unfortunately, the doom and gloom is real for many people, but then, a lot of people create their own doom and gloom and nothing I,or anyone else could say, would change their way of thinking, or, doing.

Politics?.....Well, been there, not going there again. I fly to fly, nothing else!!!!!

Frank,

I could not agree more with your point of view. It is up to everyone to try to see the positive side of every situation and even when crashing, try to fly it down as long as possible into the crash. when confronted with a very difficult situation in my life, it is when I stop feeling a victim and start thinking and pushing hard against the problem that things tend to somehow start aligning to a better outcome than expected. These days, I find myself trying to change from feeling a victim to feeling a part of the solution as soon as possible every time.

Today it is my 43th birthday and I went flying with an old friend from my years flying remote controlled models of airplanes. His name is Rafael. He recently celebrated his 70th birthday. He wanted to fly to celebrate and that we did.

Good landings to every one!

Happy birthday Samuel, may you have many more and may you continue making others happy by taking them flying with you.

I must correct you on one point! Never forget to fly the aircraft, ever, but never crash the aircraft, ever, also.

Some photos of my solo flight today, taken from 4,500 feet, for your birthday.

Frank ,

Thank you very much for a great gift.

Awesome pictures!

It is incredible that the best camera can not compare to the Human eye. I know there are many beautiful details that do not get recorded in our pictures.

Thank you for your correction. I will keep trying to keep equal numbers of take offs and landings.

072_teacher.gif.7912536ad0b89695f6408008328df571.gif, Samuel, I can guarantee, you will always have an equal number of take offs and landings! 020_yes.gif.58d361886eb042a872e78a875908e414.gif

Hi Frank,

I have been away of the Drifter and flying a CTSW. Nice little airplane but still I can not find an airplane that give me more joy than the Drifter. Here some pictures from today's Discovery flight. You can see in front of the airplane " the Giant DragonFly of South Florida" about to attack my Drifter.

Nah! It just got in front my camera.

There is one item on the Drifter's checklist that needs to be added.Fishing Rod [checked]

Hi Sam117

What about an esky and ice to bring the catch home. Were your fishing or catching? :)

Cheers

Mike

Great idea Mike.

Now the checklist gets a bit controversial from here. My friend, a retired NASA scientist, read your post. He loved your idea but he added a six pack of Heineken. His argument. As per his research, the beer could be used in the event your Engine start loosing coolant. We will have to throw that idea to the Rotax people. Looking back, now I realize my friend have been drinking a lot of those Heineken cans lately.

This afternoon I took this beautiful young lady, from Pennsylvania, USA, who is a friend of my Granddaughter Sarah and on holidays here, for her first time flight, in an Ultralight aircraft. On landing, she said she loved it and want`s to learn to fly. I gave her a copy of Sport Pilot and I hope she does learn to fly.

Thanks, Nev. Yeah! It`s magic when all goes well, especially when I`ve got a beautiful young lady, in the back seat. Fortunately, it`s been going well for quite a while, but as I tell everyone I take up (no exceptions) the next flight is a new one and we need to be ready for the unexpected.

We had some pretty terrible weather earlier on, lots of rain, but the Cyclones missed us and it`s been sunny days for a while, so, nothing to complain about. Forecast is that the wind is supposed to start picking up tomorrow morning, peaking at 30 kts Thursday, easing off over the weekend but holding around 20 kts plus, through next week.
