With temps in the low 30s last night it was still pretty warm at dawn for an early morning flight this morning. Going to be another hot one today.

Once upon a time there was an event on Cape Canaveral. Some were cleared... :plane:

I managed to go for my first “100$ Hamburger” on Saturday. Hired ProSky Maryborough’s Tecnam Sierra and went for lunch at the Lagoons 1770 Resort and Spa in Agnes Waters. Could not have asked for better flying weather and lunch.

The Resort and restaurant is a 5min walk from YAWT and the caretaker was kind enough to give me a lift there.

If you had waited until Sunday there were 23 aircraft flew in to Agnes Waters and over 40 aviation enthusiasts for a very social lunch at the resort. It was a bit breezy but very managable. The meal was excellent too.

Russell told me about the fly-in on Sunday, unfortunately I only had Saturday free. I booked your Sportstar, but it had battery issues and thankfully Russell’s Tecnam was available.

When I visited the wind was about 5 to 10kts from the ESE and I landed on 14. For the flight back I took one look at the high ground to the south, the trees and the posibility of rotors scared me and I took off from 32.

Didn’t get to fly as I got a flat tyre at the holding point.

I'm supposed to approach at 85 kts but the instructor doesn't mind if I'm a little fast on late final because the speed bleeds off

so fast once you reduce power right over the fence. If we land on the shorter grass runway I'll stick to the numbers as good as I can but

I'm still not really confident landing on the shorter runway.

Good plan. The 3 blade Hartzell “Claw” is even worse. See you at an aerobatic contest sometime?

Very unlikely, I suck at precise flying and I get confused quickly during aerobatics, trying to string together a sequence is a nightmare

Had a flight in nice flying conditions before work. Would have liked it to be a day off and go further. The local area to the west of Palmyra Airfield, Mackay. The small town in the last image is Eton.

Shocked to see so much green! I know it makes sense, but it's just been so long since we've seen that colour in Victoria.

Went up just for a circuit this morning. Weird, couldn't get the bloody thing to come down. Windsocks were hanging totally limp, should have paid attention to my Skyview and changed runways. The screenshot was on downwind for 27, looked like a 10 kt headwind, hence my 45 kt final was actually 55 kt ground speed, at least that is my excuse for the crappiest landing I've done in weeks! Think my computer must be stuffed, still can't post screenshot. Go to pictures/screenshots to attach file and it says "this folder is empty' however if I get out of this and go to pictures on the desktop there are three screenshots in the file!!!! I hate bloody computers.

A beautiful day today in SEQ, after last weekends flight review in such crap weather it was a welcome change. Getting used to the radio calls for the controlled aerodrome. A few more flights and I will be continuing on my PPL next month.

Derek,

What type of computer are you using - Windows or iPad or iMac? If Windows, what version?

If it's Windows 7 or Windows 10, there is an inbuilt tool called Snipping Tool. This is what I use to get the photos for Guess This Plane.

In Windows 10, where it says Type here to search in the bottom left hand corner, type Snip

1619877348_WindowsSearch.thumb.JPG.cab96bbe35c31150b62c0d3d30d17aed.JPG

Snipping Tool will appear at the top of the list.

In Windows 7, IIRC, it will say something like Show all programs.

Click on it and a small box will open at the top of the screen. I can't show the box because it disappears when you want to copy the screen. Here is the Snipping Tool icon.

886012306_Snippingtoolicon.JPG.94f808956d96a3da28efbc3cd11ec798.JPG

In the box, click on New. A pale film will cover the screen. Place the cursor at the top left of the area you want to copy, and drag a rectangle around your subject. When you release the mouse button, the selected area will appear in a pop-up window. A menu in the window will allow you to Save As. Choose a folder to put you clip in (I use Pictures/Screenshots.) Give the file a name and click Save.

Make sure the Save as type box shows JPEG file. You can the upload the file.

Here is a sample snip from the top of this page.

Well it doesn't get much better than my afternoon. A nice get together with close friends then I got home with an hour to spare before dark. The better half wanted to read the kids their goodnight stories so I gave them a kiss goodnight and went and did a quick daily check and I was off! I spent the whole hour within 1nm of the farm boundary and did heaps and heaps of touch and goes on every paddock that didn't have a crop! Trying to hone my short landings and threw in a few deadstick (idle engine!) just to add some challenges. Maybe I had too much coffee this afternoon but it is the most enjoyable flight I have had in a long time and I have been flying regularly the last few weeks.

I didn't bother with any photos today but I did take a photo after our last YQDI flyin where I had to leave early and fly to YGDH. I flew boy over and after lunch flew home with girlIMG_1955.thumb.JPG.815ef92385c845ca03929cd901163d0e.JPG
