Hello everyone:wave:

 

I'm from outer suburbs of Sydney....Hawkesbury.

 

I have recently started my journey into getting my RPL... it's been my dream since I was 11yrs old. Getting ready to do my very first solo and I'm pretty nervous 046_fear.gif.84b83182244bd664b8a3a0c1e803f021.gif Looking forward to taking part in this forum.

SMatt,

 

I am in the same boat. I was told you could build a airplane in Kindergarten. Flew as a teen as money allowed 15 hours in a cub at $12/hour wet last entry was in 1987. The Spring I bought the Cygnet flying is restricted more by life and weather than money now...But I too am at the cusp of solo. A good instructor will not cut you loose until you are well prepared. I need only to shoot a few crosswind landings with mine and I will solo!

Good to hear other peoples stories and know that I'm not the only one. Happy to say that I have a fantastic instructors but I am my own enemy. I doubt myself too much and what I can do. :-(

I'm almost there. Done some training in Pipers, went solo in a J160 and now a Sportstar. It is terrifying to start off with but gradually you relax. There is still the adrenaline buzz but the death grip on the stick has gone. Just keep it up regularly and above all have fun. The first solo is exhilarating and unforgettable. I really enjoy flying the Sportstar! Hope it goes well for you.

Hi and welcome smatt! Knowing your limitations is the start of good airmanship, always err on the side of caution when making decisions. That way you live to fly another day.
