Ya gotta love the DC3!

 

When I was a kid living in Adelaide there was (still might be) an old DC3 converted into part of a Mcdonalds - you can eat in it and the cockpit was still original and intact...really an awesome aircraft! I hate Mcdonads food (if you can call it that) but that made it taste soooo nice :]

Australian International Airshow (Avalon)

 

Tuesday 10 – Sunday 15 March 2009

 

 

V/Line train services will operate between Southern Cross/ Geelong and Lara. A regular shuttle bus will operate between Lara Station and Avalon Airport.

 

 

  • Trade only: Tuesday 10 – Friday 13 March at 2pm

V/Line fares

 

 

V/Line fares include the shuttle between Lara and Avalon Airport. Tickets will be available for purchase in early 2009. See below for detail.

 

 

From Melbourne to Avalon Airport (return) – incl. Metropolitan Zone 1 & 2 travel

 

 

 

 

Adults: $16.00

 

Concession/Child: $11.00

 

Family (2 Adults & 2 Children): $43.00

 

 

 

 

From Geelong to Avalon (return) – includes Geelong Transit System travel

 

 

 

 

Adults: $ 7.00

 

Concession/Child: $ 5.00

 

Family (2 Adults & 2 Children): $18.00

 

 

From Lara to Avalon Airport (return) – shuttle bus only

 

Adults: $ 7.00

 

Concession/Child: $ 5.00

 

Family (2 Adults & 2 Children): $18.00

 

 

 

 

From other locations in Victoria

 

 

 

 

Patrons travelling by V/Line from other locations in regional Victoria pay the applicable fare to Lara, plus the cost of the shuttle bus fare between Lara and Avalon.

 

 

V/Line tickets to Avalon during the Airshow are available for purchase from

Airshow tickets

 

 

V/Line tickets do not include entrance to the Airshow. Airshow tickets can be purchased from Ticketmaster by calling 136 100 or visiting the Ticketmaster website (new window).

 

 

 

Timetable

 

 

Trade days

 

 

 

 

During the Trade only days of the Airshow V/Line’s normal timetable will be operating. Shuttles between Lara and Avalon connect with trains.

 

Public days

 

 

 

 

During the public days of the Airshow V/Line operates additional services, departing Southern Cross Station approximately every 10 minutes during peak times. Shuttles between Lara and Avalon meet all trains.

I think there is still a good line-up. Stacks of people are bagging the airshow but I think it would be great to just be around these aircraft (that could be just me though).

This little black duck will be there too ! Possibly twice :biggrin:

 

Hopefully will get to fly in on a trade day, tho that's looking unlikely - uncertainty about which day to go and the need to book. But will also go on Sat or Sun - by car !

 

My mate who I normally go with is working in the Alice .. so not quite a short trip for him to make it :frown: so will be going it alone I suspect.

 

One things for sure, been before, been last time, and intend to be there again!
