A couple of posts have 5 or more photos, although these may duplicate the other post. It's a pity the poster hasn't captioned the photos in the comments section. Thruster88 Posted October 20, 2019 Share Posted October 20, 2019 Flew in with friend Dave with his beautiful Gere Sport. Good show but weather a little dusty at times. Two aircraft suffered collapsed nose gear but no injuries. High light of the show for me was the aerobatic demo by a cessna 150, just when I thought I had seen it all. I went to one on ageing pilots and got the message that you need to fly frequently. Good idea huh. The best thing was the tailwind flying to Narromine from Gawler. I actually saw 160 knots ground speed with 90 knots airspeed for a while at 9,000 ft. I was posting photos on AusFly all weekend. Tried to get Stuart's photos up yesterday. Was doing it at the Dinner on a mobile phone, as otherwise it would ha e had to wait till I got home this afternoon. And it would have taken hours to caption them all. The wind was better than the rain last time I camped at Narromine. 50mm overnight and in the morning, some tents were on islands and some in lakes. The country looks as if it has not rained since. Yes it's certainly dry. I didn't see any green all the way down, but some places appeared worse than others. I left early Saturday last year because of predicted weather and arrived home to hear that they had some quite severe storms. Sat rather windy and dusty, with lots of willy-willy's going through, even saw a huge dust tornado out to the north. Spare a though for the rural farmers and communities - I saw zero crops even planted on the drive there and back. Just dirt, dirt, and more dirt. And some dirt. I enjoyed it, though sadly had to head home sooner than I'd have liked before the cold front affected my home base beyond what I'd be comfortable with. I thought that the event was good, everyone seemed in a good mood, plenty of planes to look at. The Saturday dinner was a bit of a chaos with the food (compared to last year) but the company was good. Weather conditions were ok though a dust storm later Saturday arvo. Sunday fly home weather was good. The event is well supported locally by the council. It would be great if RAA could have been there in a more collaborative role, but for reasons we all know, probably won't happen any time soon. With a more "all aviators under one sky" participation, the trade distributors for aircraft and accessories would be there in greater numbers.
