Ausfly 2019

There are 25+ photos attached to the post featuring a presentation, an RV and a T51, although there is no number to indicate that. A couple of posts have 5 or more photos, although these may duplicate the other post. It's a pity the poster hasn't captioned the photos in the comments section. I'm not sure what some of the aircraft are.

Flew in with friend Dave with his beautiful Gere Sport. Good show but weather a little dusty at times. Two aircraft suffered collapsed nose gear but no injuries. High light of the show for me was the aerobatic demo by a cessna 150, just when I thought I had seen it all.

Plenty of time to admire the dish on the way home today with a 35knot ground speed.

I was there and I liked how they did it. No "security " stopping people going airside.

Interesting seminars. I went to one on ageing pilots and got the message that you need to fly frequently.

Good idea huh.

The best thing was the tailwind flying to Narromine  from Gawler. I actually saw 160 knots ground speed with 90 knots airspeed for a while at 9,000 ft. More like 140 knots most of the time.... wow hard to believe and I was there.

Well over 200 planes flew in. Fantastic weekend. Presentations were well attended. And loads of photos at https://www.facebook.com/2019ausfly/

Sorry they aren't captioned. And don't think there are any/many duplicates. I put them up whilst at the Dinner last night and it would have taken hours to caption them all.

Sorry. I was posting photos on AusFly all weekend. Tried to get Stuart's photos up yesterday. Was doing it at the Dinner on a mobile phone, as otherwise it would ha e had to wait till I got home this afternoon. And it would have taken hours to caption them all. Started putting them up 1 at a time then put them in in groups.

Mostly presentations and sponsors.

I would like some feedback too.  How many, how did it go .. is it worth the interstate trip?  Some plane porn pls.

We had a ball. Counted over 220 planes and they were still arriving. Really friendly, fun event. Alsoots of informative presentations.

Was that you sitting next to a Jab with a very flat tent on Saturday afternoon?

I thought it was a good event. Less air show and more catching up and meeting other aerosexuals.

Nope, my tent didn't blow down. It was between another but bigger Jab and an RV.

The wind was better than the rain last time I camped at Narromine. 50mm overnight and in the morning, some tents were on islands and some in lakes. The country looks as if it has not rained since.

Yes it's certainly dry. I didn't see any green all the way down, but some places appeared worse than others.

I left early Saturday last year because of predicted weather and arrived home to hear that they had some quite severe storms.

I really felt for that guy sitting in a camping chair next to his Jab and a 2 inch high tent still pegged firmly down, covered in dirt.

Good weekend. Thursday a little windy and dusty. Friday nice. Sat rather windy and dusty, with lots of willy-willy's going through, even saw a huge dust tornado out to the north.

Spare a though for the rural farmers and communities - I saw zero crops even planted on the drive there and back. Just dirt, dirt, and more dirt. And some dirt. Brought a lot back on my car.

I flew in briefly on Saturday morning in a C152. I enjoyed it, though sadly had to head home sooner than I'd have liked before the cold front affected my home base beyond what I'd be comfortable with.

I thought that the event was good, everyone seemed in a good mood, plenty of planes to look at. Taxied past a nosewheel-less Cheetah I think on arrival.

It was a good event and well attended. The Saturday dinner was a bit of a chaos with the food (compared to last year) but the company was good. Weather conditions were ok though a dust storm later Saturday arvo. Sunday fly home weather was good. The event is well supported locally by the council. It would be great if RAA could have been there in a more collaborative role, but for reasons we all know, probably won't happen any time soon. With a more "all aviators under one sky" participation, the trade distributors for aircraft and accessories would be there in greater numbers. The trade side of the event is an attraction, but the traders need a good chance of a ROI to show up.
