I haven't flown for over four months , I could if I wanted but what's the point, it's like going to the Pub to have a beer with yourself.

Some of us enjoy the solitude of flying by ourselves. It's a personal thing, no point getting upset because someone else enjoys a different type of flying to you.

I miss it but I'm having serious thoughts of giving it up and finding some new challenge

Probably a good idea if your heart's not in it.....

There are still too many people who are stuffing things up for everyone & tying up resources like the woman in the car on the news last night rabbiting on about her rights & holding up traffic for 10 minutes & another idiot carrying on about it all being a hoax. They should have been arrested for obstruction. Across the ditch they haven't had a community transmission case for 85 days & then an idiot family climbed over the fence at their quarantine hotel & took off. Luckily a cop saw one of them & 4 of the 5 were caught quickly but the other was at large for 8 hours & had travelled 200 km. The process tied up a lot of police resources incluging POLair. They all face court today. If it was me I'd lock them up in a police cell for another 14 days & make them pay reparation for the time & cost to find them as well as the on going cost to find everyone they contacted during their stupid act. Then they'd know how serious it is.

That's probably going to be the pattern for a while; an infected woman attended several churches in Sydney on the one day.

Eve Black who forced her way through the check point is getting a visit and explanation of what other people's rights are according to an Assistant Commissioner, but even in Melbourne about 7% are flouting the efforts of Health Officials by breaching safe separation. Out case numbers have come down two days in a row, but we're going to get some serious daily death totals - 7 yesterday, 5 of them Aged Care, so you can see once this aged care cluster is finished in a couple of weeks there is potential for a drop in total deaths. 19 of 41 people in ICU yesterday were under 59.

Agreed Agreed - Don't know how the NZ authorities are managing their "system" but we are pathetic - mixed and unclear messaging & terminology, very slow to react, pathetically middle of the road type responses.

We need CLEAR DECISIVE TARGETED TIMELY RESPONSES and SWIFT APPROPRIATE PENALTIES FOR RULE BREAKERS.

There will be mistakes/over reactions but these can be apologise for after the fact . Better this than two week delays in boarder closures, cheapest quote security contracting, etc etc

Unfortunately, the bulk of our politicians and bureaucrats have honed their "make no waves" type skills in another time and are psychologically ill equip ed to respond to a pandemic which is much like a war type environment..

You could probably add the word APPROPRIATE in there in both sections.

If the rules were clear. concise and appropriate most people will happily abide. When they make hazy rules with no apparent benefit....well, you get what we've got.

I actually believe that Australian governments of all persuasions have done a reasonable job even given the recent spike. I cant think of more than a couple of countries that have done better.

The situation is unprecedented so there is no play book for dealing with it. Things change quickly as we learn more so advice does change and this can be difficult to get out to the public so mistakes will be made.

The Victorian outbreak was largely due to security gourds at the hotel where people were being quarantined. This failure was not due to messaging I would suggest that a security guard cannot claim that they wouldn't have shagged the person in quarantine if only they had been specifically told that they shouldn't. Likewise I suspect that the other cause of the spread, people going shopping or going back to work whilst awaiting for test results is not about lack of clear information. In the unlikely event that people waiting for test results are not told to quarantine,, it does not take a particularly high IQ or level of awareness to understand the mechanics of infection spread.

The medical specialist who lied to evade quarantine (but was caught) knew exactly what he was doing. The guy who hid in the boot of a car at a border crossing knew what he was doing.

The fact is that whilst the governments handling of the the pandemic is extremely important until there is a vaccine only the average person can ensure that they do not get the disease or pass it on.

We love to blame the government for everything but we are also quick to then complain about a paternalistic government telling us what to do. The real solution is us. The majority of the population are pitching in and doing their bit but unfortunately a minority are not and a small minority can make a huge difference.

What a beautiful down around Melb, I was not alone up there today, the busiest I've seen/heard the R/T in a while, might be the masks on the air intakes of the many planes!??

I thought you would be sick of doing circuits by now! :oh yeah:

Don`t know where they`re coming from but the free camping ground at Babinda creek and the free one at the Mulgrave river at Gordonvale are full.

Have some Vic friends that are free camping up your way (around Mission Beach) they are on a working holiday up and down the East coast. They just got into QLD on a work permit before the shut down. Their work has finished so they are filling in time till they find casual work somewhere along the coast. They are early 30s and will do anything , if you know where they might find casual work give me a yell,

Interesting day yesterday; Lockdown for Wave 2 started in Melbourne on July 8 to reduce virus transmissions from the metropolitan area (shown on the map) to Vic country which is relatively free of virus, and also from the suburbs with high volume clusters to those with very low infection, so you can’t move out of your local area and spread the coronavirus. For example, yesterday I was in local Bunnings store, walked out of an aisle and two police were there with an I-Pad checking people to see if anyone was there from another suburb. The highly publicised woman who claimed she was bored after walking every street in Brighton was fined for travelling about 8 km to the Tan.

So it’s not surprising that the Moorabbin Training Area has been deserted for two weeks. There might have been one R22, and a couple of VH aircraft, but yesterday the air slowly filled with aircraft, like a repeat of Pearl Harbour, so I decided to go and check what was on the radar.

While I was there for about 30 minutes:

Two aircraft left Moorabbin and landed at Lethbridge (outside the lock down zone)

Two Moorabbin aircraft cruised down the Mornington Peninsula then crossed the Bay to the Bellarine Peninsula (outside lockdown zone)

One Point Cook aircraft went down past Avalon, turned near Geelong and crossed from the Bellarine Peninsula to the Mornington Peninsula went east past Tooradin then south east towards east Gippsland.

Another one from Point Cook crossed to Mornington Peninsula and kept going.

Another Point Cook aircraft ran the same route around Avalon then turning away from Geelong and well out over the Southern Ocean (out of sight from shore) then tracked west towards SA.

One training school was operating with multiple aircraft doing return legs out to Pakenham and back etc They may have been single occupant, but two people have already been booked for failing to meet the social distancing requirement after a country cop heard them over the town and drove out to the airport to welcome them.

Just what the reason was for this explosion is uncertain, but they must surely be attracting attention.

There was a SAPOL aircraft cruising up and down the SA Border with the right wingtip on the border line in a beautiful display of precision flying at a steady 148 knots, but no sign of Victorian aircraft west of Hamilton.

If your friends will do anything tell them to take a look at the Banana growers, they give work to backpackers and here`s a start for them.

Even they're not too hard to lift off the internet.. Having said that, you will rarely seen any from me... mainly because I have been in hiatus lately, but also, for some reason, I am not comfortable taking photos while flying... The ones I have posted have usually been taken by my son.

That bloke in the video is having a rant out of jealousy because he is not a Melbournian.
