In the burst of inventions during the 1950s you often read the comment in books "Why didn't someone think of that before!" All the dozens of actions entirly routine, easily programmable even to the extent of reacting to routine instructions from the ground if an airport has closed due to weather etc. just like Siri or Google Nest.
