New waterbomber

I have watched on fr24 the performance of LATs, think 737 versus SEATs, think Airtractor 802 or helicopters. The small aircraft can often deliver more per hour by being closer, can operate from small runways close to fires. They are spread across Australia ready to go in 15 mins and are operated by locals.

Another dimension: Air tractors are usually idle for months during droughts and a water-bombing contract could save the company from financial collapse. If Australia wants a credible fire- fighting force, we should give these Airtractor operators some priority.

I think the biggest water bomber that was used in the Frazer Island fires had to return to somewhere near Sydney to take on more water. That as a fire that should never have started as the National Parks found the fire which was started by campers and didn't put it out themselves.
