A Qtar A380 appears to hover as it attempts to land at Heathrow. There was a 56 knot crosswind. The UK was being battered by Storm Eunice with winds that reached 196 kmh. In the end the pilots decide to go around. It landed on the third attempt. The Speedbird producer said "Never before have I seen that and I have been live streaming  Aviation for 10 years".

wow.  a good example (again), rehearsal and familiarity of the (challenging)  situation. This one took 3 attempts.

REALLY LARGE aeroplanes always appear to be travelling slow.. In these strong and gusty conditions observe the control movements. the QATAR landing was a "late save" which could easily have been very firm. When you have strong headwind components, you can easily add Kts to your approach speed as the spoilers will plant you firmly and the groundspeed is not as high as when there's no  Headwind component.
