Who is heading to Ausfly 22 at Narromine

Recommended Posts

Ausfly 22 is on 15-17 September. Last held in 2019 due covid, was a raging drought with dust storms and a mega summer of bush fires to follow. This year it will be perfect with green grass everywhere. Narromine is a great spot with excellent facilities. Hope to see many of you there.

I’ll be there with mini-me as well, although with my mini-me being 196cm, I am actually the mini-me.  I hate that!

I believe that I am slotted to give a talk about our turbine engine development program.  Please come and say G’day and I’ll try not to bore you to tears!

Strewth! Coonabarabran on the 10/11th, then Narromine on the 15-17th. Will I ever be at home? If I get the bike behaving itself, I might ride it over there. Otherwise it's the car and a funny hat.

Weather forecast for getting to Ausfly not looking good at the moment.

Yes friday 16 looks like rain over most of NSW, Saturday and Sunday look ok. Will have to reposition the aircraft, otherwise runway will look like this next Saturday morning🤔.  Ground is so wet now 20mm makes a flood.

Saturday will likely be OK I think

remember, 8 days away this time of year, for predictions,  is mostly over active computer imagination.

I was going to say my learned friend RFguy said this about the forecast a week out from Old Station. The weather for that over two states turned out perfect.

at the moment, the NAVGEM  model  ; the saturday 4am is nasty, saturday early  morning is a bit wet , and is clearing at noon. and nice saturday evening

the other model - GFS is saying similar....

but there is 170 hours between now and then and the weather moving 12 hours forward or backward will make a huge diffence.

At the moment if flying I'd be saying travel after lunch Saturday, but that will change I am sure , once we are 3 days out we'll be putting money on it.

There are plenty of different runways at Narromine if you dont like Xwind.

It would be reasonable to say the weather has been a bit DIFFERENT lately. Frontal weather can be quite unsuitable for small aircraft and a WET countryside adds water to the atmosphere and raises the relative humidity, lowers the cloud base and increases the possibility of fog . Nev

give it 5 years and global oil demand will be down 10%,  oil will be $40 a barrel give it 10 years and global oil demand will be down 25%, oil will be at $25/barrel  and gasoline  flying will be cheap again.

Driving up in the Mopar Thurs from VIC, probably in the rain all the way.

Local report earlier today said blue sky there today but the wind was a little cool.

My weather watchings in the last week - it's certainly improved from what was forecast. Hopefully it'll be OK.

Bring jackets and spare shoes just in case.

probably biggest issue is that the front will now go through on Saturday night. bring tie downs.

which means crap saturday, sunday.  I feel sorry for the organisers, but it is the way the aviation weather cookie crumbles....

see what tomorrow update looks like.

Windy.com says forget it if based in Victoria - rain, snow thunderstorm activity and 15 knot + headwinds.  I’ve. been stuck in Dubbo for three days earlier this year and the western plains zoo has lost its charms. I did register and pay but unfortunately I’m a no show. I guess it’s doable from the North in something fast but from Victoria it’s a no go for me as at this moment.

Thruster88 and I *might* go up for the day on Saturday only

This will depend on the look of the GWPT chart on Friday evening.....and the sky on Saturday morning.

GWPT - You all can still read these, can't you ?
