Sparks were flying at Board Meeting

Board meetings can at times get a little hot under the collar but at the latest Raaus board meeting that followed the AGM sparks were really flying causing the meeting to be adjourned and all members evacuated.

We had just stopped for a coffee break in the afternoon when a policeman walked in and told us to evacuate the RAAus premises. Just up the road a bit and around the corner clouds of black smoke were billowing into the skies with two choppers being repelled by the ground as they normally are and carrying water buckets - in fact one of them I would say was not much bigger than my 8 year old's sand pit bucket, but they were buzzing around dumping water on the massive fire that had started in a grass paddock, spread to a sand blasting yard causing some gas bottles to explode which spread the flames onto old tyres in an adjourning junk yard.

For some time thinking we were going to be able to resume the board meeting many of the board members hung around the safe area whilst a few of us knew this was going to last for a while so we went back to the hotel and organised a room to continue the meeting...just in case.

At around 5:00 we were allowed back into the office "at our own risk" however those board members trying to get back to the office were met by a blockade of police preventing their entry into the area.

The end result was the board meeting was reconvened back at the hotel until it was adjourned at around 7:00pm till an early start the next day.

Any member aspiring to board membership should be aware that the treatment for getting hot under the collar is apparently colonic irrigation.

You have been warned.
