Interestingly, despite the WAACO name, the company appears to have been registered in Box Hill, Victoria; at least that was what was shown on the aircraft's plans. When I bought this aircraft (one of only two built, I believe), registered as 10-0062 and then painted red, from HARS, back in 2010, I was told that the constructor (name not given) used to live in Kiama, but that he'd passed. I was also told that he'd been an Estonian (hence the black/blue/white colours on the top surface of the upper wingtips) and that he was formerly a Luftwaffe Me.109 pilot. I have no idea if that information is accurate, however. I was also given to understand that the a/c had logged about 65 hours, but again there was no documentation to support that.
I had intentions to restore the aircraft to flying condition, but a change of personal circumstances precluded that.
[email protected] who was a fellow board-member at the Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre in the Wimmera bought the aircraft from me in about 2012, though he told me that it was on behalf of some friends. Unfortunately, I do not know the whereabouts or state of the aircraft today.
