  1. Just started flying at Lilydale - same situation as you - moved to Melbourne after getting my Pilot Cert, but nothing else yet.

Lilydale Flying School gives an excellent pack to get you going with airport diagrams, checklists, brochures, etc. Their instructors are friendly and the facility has a nice atmosphere. Depending on what aircraft you've flown so far - (for RA-Aus) they fly Jabirus and a Eurofox. A very short distance away, there's Coldstream, which flies (for Ra-Aus) a Tecnam P92.

  2. I fear that the "Happening behind the Scenes" is Jabiru wriggling off the reliability requirement hook, You could be forgiven if you thought that CASA showed a big stick to Ja. and Ja. said briefly "hit me with that and I'll not play" To which CASA would have replied " All right then, go out and play but promise you wont don't ever do it again!" With that what happened in the past will continue to happen going forward...... (god I hate buzz words)

Given what they did to RA-AUS to force them to get their house in order, I don't have the same fear.

  3. From a GA back-ground around YCAB, I can advise the following:

    • go to http://caboolturerecreationalaviation.com.au to fly in Jabs / Foxbat, etc. I did my tailwheel in a cub L4 for my tailwheel endo and awesome training, especially if moving to from GA to RAA

    • go to http://www.goflyaviation.com.au for RAA training... all with Rotax engines and mix of A/C and awesome staff.. best way to complete your RAA certificate... most with colour lcd screens nowadays..

    • go to http://www.aerodynamic.com.au for GA training.. will take you all the way to ATPL and beyond if your wallet is happy. Again great staff and Brian knows his stuff. Fleet is aging though.

+1 - great flight school. Got up to solo standard before I moved interstate. Great school with a very friendly atmosphere.

  4. To Jabiru Fleet,Will the silent majority please become vocal as soon as possible to protect your flying privileges!! Rodney Stiff and Susan Woods have just landed in Canberra and will be meeting with CASA @ 11am tomorrow morning with Legal Representation and will be fighting for your privileges!! WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT URGENTLY by responding to Lee Ungermann at email: [email protected]via the below link as we only have a week for responses to be submitted Refer to Link:http://www.casa.gov.au/scripts/nc.dll?WCMS%3ASTANDARD%3A%3Apc=PC_102279

Head in the sand. IMO. To hear countless stories of Jabiru not giving a stuff about its customers after money has changed hands and then pretend they are in Canberra fighting for customer's privileges...???

  5. <snip!!>There have been far too many issues ongoing, and not rectified. Jab wash their hands of an overhauled engine after 1 month, and of a brand new engine after 2 months!!! 2 months?????? Ridiculous! Finally something is being done about attempting to have this factory pony up and accept responsibility!

Where has Ungermann been these last 3 years? Why hasn't he been talking to Rod & Co & working with Jab to resolve these issues.<snip!>

Maybe he has been talking to them, but got the same response that pilots do when they report problems.

Given the way the proposed instrument is written, you possibly can fly at Bankstown/Archerfield but only within gliding distance of somewhere to land where there are no people. So probably just circuits...And with no passengers although you may arguably be able to take another qualified pilot. Student pilots specifically are not allowed solo.

    Airbus A350 ETOPS 370 minutes

    Boeing 787 ETOPS 330 minutes

    Jabiru ETOPS 2 minutes
