  1. Cheers for that Stewy,Next time mate if the offers still on

We have a friend of my wife’s up there we don’t visit anywhere near enough.

No worries anytime no guarantees on room but there usually is and that goes for anyone happy to help if I can hate seeing planes in the weather if there is a better option

  2. I own my own hangar and think the benefits outweigh the costs for me

I used to have my plane in a shared hangar and it cost me bugger all but the thought of damaging someone else’s plane or even worse to me would be to get accused of damaging it and not having done so used to give me an uneasy feeling.

I built my hangar for MY convenience and MY piece of mind. I like to shoot out to the airport after work on a nice evening and just go for a fly if I feel like it ( the joys of county living and a close airport ) where as before my plane would be behind others and it just felt to hard for what I wanted to do (20 min moving planes for 30 mins flying ) lazy maybe.

I have plenty of room 15m x 15m hangar for a J160 Jab, can even do the run ups in there if I want and no other planes rent any space and I don’t want them on a full time basis either for the same reasons mentioned above. Plus I refuse to take out insurance for other people’s planes in my hangar for the same reason Poteroo states above its to bloody expensive for the return to me.

It may not suit everyone to own there own hangar but for me it is worth the expense for convenience and piece of mind.

    Regards

  3. Hi

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for training out of Moorabbin

  4. I bet Cliff was happy to see you put yourself forward for the trip .

That little plane has caused him a few headaches over the last year or so.

Glad to see you had a good trip with it I remember asking him about it and him telling of the tail wheel trouble

  5. Novus polish works well can use with a electric buff if you want make sure it variable speed though and start slow

If it is polycarbonate like head lights are made of you can use wet and dry starting at 600 and work your way to 2000 and then use fine polish to finish

  6. Hi All

Just wondering if anyone knows where to buy and Vogels Ipad Mini mount from.

I have one for my full size Ipad but stuffed if I can remember where I purchased it from and don't seem to be able to track one down from my old mate Google.

    Thanks

  7. They are the ones but I think you will find that they will not fit the nose wheel

Price is about right you could go to local tyre shop and ask if they deal with tyre and tube company and it might save you the postage etc. have the part number at work if you need it

    Regards

  8. I assume that you are looking for the Trelleborg 140 x 6 10ply tyres for the mains?

I can get them for you but they would be expensive by the time I sent them up to you

Let me know if you need any more help

    Regards

  9. Hi All

Am considering doing my PPL and was wondering who people would recommend as we have none in Swan Hill doing GA training. I believe that there are facilities in Deniliquin, Bendigo and Mildura that are about my closest for convenience. Has anyone had any experience with any of them good or bad.

    Thanks

  10. You should be able to just right click on it and then hit save as.

Rename the file if you like so it makes sense to you then tell it where you want to save it to

Could make a folder for SB's for future ones

    Hope that helps

    Regards

  11. Thursday took commercial flight to Bundaberg to pick up my new (second hand ) plane J160. Met the little fella on the tarmac Thursday night and introduced myself as his new owner and gave him a brief run down of what was expected of him :-) The rules were quite simple as I explained to him all that was required was to be sweet running, fun loving none gas guzzling little plane and we would get along just fine! After looking over my new friend and playing with all his fancy buttons on his fancy glass panel I let him have a good nights sleep ready for our first big adventure together.

Awoke Friday morning to calm skies and hoped that my new friend had slept better than me, I must have been a bit excited :-). Got my forecasts etc @ 4.30am and updated flight plane and walked to the airport to see how 24-7019 had slept. Upon arrival I found him raring to go so gave him a good check over and headed to the fuel bowser to fill him up.

One final check of fuel etc and we took to the skies at 6.22am for the 304nm trip to Moree, Nice smooth conditions cruising at 2500 and getting about 110kts with nice tail wind.

Climbed to 4500 over the ranges and some low scattered cloud still maintaining about 110kts with visibility reduced by what looked like smoke haze. Landed in Moree at 9.22am and refueled the tanks and then went and emptied mine and got the cockpit re organised.

Departed Moree for the 170nm trip down to Warren climbing to 4500ft again as we headed over the Piliga scrub and back to about 90 kts as we found a head wind for what would be the rest of the trip home. Started to get a few bumps after Moree as the plains started to heat up but nothing to bad and cruised down to Warren arriving at about 12.00pm for another bladder relief stop and stretch of the legs.

After giving 7019 a pat of encouragement to keep up the good work we departed for the 118nm leg to Lake Cargelligo, with bladder feeling fine at that stage decided to over fly and continue the 107nm to Hay. With the benefit of hind site a stop would have been good as the bladder was we and truly full by Hay :-( Coming into Hay I started to get a low oil pressure alarm on the Dynon which woke me up and took my mind off the full bladder problem that was for sure. Landed in Hay and check had a good look over and could see nothing wrong, trying to check oil I could not get the dip stick to undo due to it being a bit cramped for my hand in the oil inspection lid and the cap being a bit tight due to it being hot. Decided to remove cowl and have a good look just to be sure anyhow and checked oil to find it slightly down so added oil to bring up to the right level.

Departed Hay for the final 80nm leg home to Swan Hill after checking oil pressure alarm was all good and flew the final leg home with no problems. My home being on the flight path in I gave the mandatory fly over to let the kids know dad was back at continued to the airport.

Giving a 3 mile final call for a straight in approach for 22 and lined up to see about 25 planes on the ground for the Antiquers' Spring Flyin I thought shit I hope they are not all watching :-), proceeded to produce a pretty fair landing and me and my new best mate were home.

All in all we spent 10 hours together for the day and had a great flight, could not have asked for better conditions really for the distance traveled.

  12. Paper version I still like, can't come to grips with reading a mag on the iPad yet it just isn't the same.

Although the idea of video does appeal a lot if we could make good instructional or educational type videos

Best part of the paper mag is they stay around for a long time, I just cleaned out the cupboard at home and sent all my old mags to my sons primary school library, so who knows what might come of some young mind reading on of them in the future.

  13. The valve that broke did have signs of wear on the shaft where I looks like scratching so to speak, I assume residue from the avgas, along with the pitting that you describe Dafydd. The rest of them in the other heads were all ok apparently but I am no expert only my opinion from viewing the offending head and helping take photos etc of it.
