  1. What a trajedy. From what I have read here, I am wondering if it was not a case of get-there-itis, or get-there-or-else-itis, could pressure from a loved one have cause the pilots judgement to waiver, I know it can happen. In all of the entries I have read, the thoughts are similar, stick to the book/s and try to avoid these unesessary events. My codolences go out to their family and friends.

  2. Hi guys, I finally past my nav and have only had one chance to fly unleashed, so I took my daughter for a spin over Tumbarumba and across to Tumut, great day for it, and blowering dam looks

fantastic at around 80%. Planning on going that way again with another family member, just need the weather to clear up bounce.gif.3516b5f7197d1d6889168640af67e2f6.gif

  3. Thanks Oossie, the utube instruction is exactly how I have been using the wind side of the E6-B, however my drift is always opposite to what it should be. The dyson - holand nav

instruction clearly states that the wind mark should be below the centre point and not above. I have cofirmed this with my instructor and he has agreed. I have also tested the

theory and it works. I appreciate the comments and the effort you went to to upload the utube instruction thanks again.114_ban_me_please.gif.0d7635a5d304fa7bdaef6367a02d1a75.gif

  4. I am probably not the first nav student to spot this, but I thought it was worth a mention.

I have an ASA E6-B Flight Computer (Metal), and on the wind correction side there are instruction

at the top "For Ground Speed and True Heading" if you use this to calculate drift and magnetic heading, you will get opposite drift, (groundspeed as well). In point two it states "Mark Wind Velocity up from Centre Point" when in fact you need to mark the wind velocity down from the centre point to get the correct drift and groundspeed.

If anyone has one of these Flight computers, can you give me some feedback, as I have been using

it as written and wondering why I was reversing my drift etc. I will also make the point that in the Dyson-Holland nav instruction it does state to mark the wind velocity below the centre mark, but I did not spot the difference until I had re-read the nav instruction, because I thought I was doing something wrong. The heading "For Ground Speed and TRUE Heading" might be a clue but I was following the directions on a technical piece of proven equipment, so how could it lead me astray.

  5. Hi all - Can anyone tell me if the magazine is free ongoing or do you have to pay for it after 12 month?? I am a member.

More importantly can anyone tell me how to view an ERC low chart on line before I buy it. I don't want to buy one sight unseen

but the online shops only seem to show the area but not an enlarged view??

  6. something seemed to be running down slartis leg has he dangled there trying to maintain a decent grip, but as luck would have it help was at hand as the truck climbed up a steep incline with much tiger country on it

and it would seem that slarti was about to come to grips with gravity or at least a big>>>

  7. Thanks for the reply, I have mainly flown the sierra but have only had the good fortune to fly eaglet twice, once with my instuctor and then next lesson some solo circuits. My experience is not

worldly but I enjoy flying both and hope to soon (couple of months weather permitting) have my flight test. I am starting to think it is not just achieving pilot status, but how much you enjoy

    the journey that really counts.

  8. Is there a know design problem with the hand brake lever in the eaglet? I am a student and believe

the handbrake lever needs a friction control or something to stop it drifting into the on position during climb out. It would be easy to land with the hand brake on if not carefull (Yeh I know part of the downwind checks) but I bet everyone has missed at least one Item during a check at some time in their flying career. Has anyone noticed the issue I am talking about? and has anyone found a solution?

  9. I have 19 hours in a Tecnam including 30 minutes solo and can't see me getting there before 25 to 27 hours, weather and traffic volume is a factor that can hold you back

regardless of how well you are flying. I initially thought I would have done my 5 hours solo within the 20 hours, and actually managed my first solo at 15 hours, but if you

want to do this right and safely then you are ready when you are ready and not just becaues you have logged the correct number of hours. I hope there will be many hours

    after I get my certificate.

  10. Well done mate. My wife and sister were at the strip when I did my 1st ( 1st of 2) solo, 1 circuit then land he told me. No problem I said (out loud) talked to myself

all the way round, meanwhile my wife and sister were wondering why there were two idiots in yellow jackets wondering aimlessly around the airport. Idiots were mine

and a GA students instructors watching and hoping that their students doing their 1st solos would bring the planes back. We did
