  1. Hi Deb and RalphJulie and I will certainly be attending the splash in, weather permitting. We have just christened our new 701 on amphibious floats so this will be the first trip away with it. There should be a fair few others from the Whitsundays heading down including a Searay a Supper Petrel and a couple of Lightwings. We will try and give firm figures closer to the day.

Looking forward to a great weekend

    cheers

  7. All welcome to fly into Angelfield for our Country Brekkie held on the second Saturday of every month.

You can also camp over the night before and pizza is served for dinner for $10 all you can eat.

Come and share your stories around our friendly campfire. Many friendships have been made at Angelfield.

Contact Ralph or Deb on 07 41686248 or check out our website - burnettflyers.org for additional info.

  8. The original wings are not with the aircraft as some of the components have been used to make the new wings. I did speak to Steve Cohen the designer and his opinion was if the airfoil was the same the wings would still perform the same. The original pilot was a solid guy and that may be sufficient weight difference with a 70Kg operator. The aircraft from the records has been flown 123 Hrs. Will recheck cog.

  9. Hi Bob, many thanks for the photos of our fly in. It is a lot of hard work for our club. Many, many hours of time have gone into getting Angelfield up and running.

It is great that we are getting so much positive feedback as this is what we want all flyers to enjoy, our country hospitality!

Please feel free to fly in on Friday night as the campfire is well alight and a BBQ is always held the night before the fly in for all that camp underwing overnight.

Unfortunately we have had raise the price to $10 as we were losing money..but will try and add a bit more variety of food. This also now includes the price of home brewed coffee and tea... Money raised will go towards a weather station which is on our list. 098_welcome.gif.81ff07d492568199326e4f64f78d7bc6.gif

  11. Certainly a special experience, but it will be one among many because flying is like that. What sort of Piper are we rebuilding? Nev

    Hi Nev,

We are building a Piper PA-16 'Clipper' made in 1949. Will be a challenge but about half of it is done. It came from a deceased estate at a real bargain price with an lycoming engine which has only 6 hours on it since last overhaul.

Looking forward to see it all back together and ready to fly.

    Deb

  12. congrats

    Congratulations!!

I did it last weekend and have a permanent smile on my face.

Yes, the Jab 120 climbed out really well without my instructor,

and he is a big guy but one of the best teachers I have come across.

I went solo at 27 hours and had to fly 3 different planes.

  13. Good to hear you are learning to fly. I am also learning to fly in a Jabiru 120 and did my first solo last weekend, awsome stuff.

We have a piper to rebuild, and we have our own strip but need to build the hanger in our spare time. We live in a fairly remote area.

Your learning will be rewarded when you go solo!!

    Deb
