I hear they can be tricky to land untill you get use to them. Id love to hear from some one who own's one has built one or has spent some time flying them.;)

  3. Got my nav endorsement this weekend, so want to go further afield, and check out Kilcoy, on Monday, as it's close and a possible home for me if I buy an aircraft. There isn't any real info in ERSA though.Does anyone know the elevation, runway directions and length please?

Any anyone with recent experience there got any tips for me?

I am sure there was a section on this site with details of airfields but I can't find it.

    Thanks

  4. Curious to know if anyone has experienced problems with the standard VDO/Jabiru Tacho, mine is showing intermittent random RPM readings and intermittent loss of the LCD (at 61 hrs), I know of another doing the same. I would suggest dry solder joints. The unit appears to be only serviceable from the front, does anyone know if the front bezel removable?

    Hi

i have a jab lsa with 1400 plus hours on it for the last month the tacho has been intermittent. today i removed it and very carefully removed the black outer ring that holds it together. i could not see a crack in the solder joints as my eyes are not as good as they used to be , so i re-soldered all of the large one, reassembled and it works. the face comes off if you work the folded over ring all the way around gently

    hope this helps Keith

  7. wa trip

    hi chris

i have flown kalgoorlie , forest , ceduna , port pirie , bendigo and return. you should do ceduna ,forest ,kalgoorlie in a day not much between ceduna and forest but from forest to kalgoorlie you follow the train track with lot of strip on the side of the track i will be doing this trip in two weeks again the people at forest are great. the motel people at ceduna will pick you up at the air field and take you back in the morning great little trip.as far as fields near perth, serpentine is ok but make sure you take to the sec of the club and not the person in ersa the other field was murray field contact the royal aero club of perth and there will be no trouble also there is fuel there as well.

    best of luck keith
