Hi Nev it would not be a problem, due to it being similar to the Gazelle and the reduction of the Tailwheel and spring, bearing in mind that the Jabiru 4 cly version needs a bit extra wt on the nose anyway it works out very well, the Rotax 912 is the perfect wt and with the nosewheel it could be easily compensated for simply by battery placementBe interested in your assessment of the total weight added by that ,John. I assume you would want it to be steerable? NevHope this helps
Rgds John

Hi all, the nose wheel version is still under consideration, and could be implemented for firm orders, there is no problem with doing it, just that nobody has committed to one so I am surprised at the lack of interest in the nose wheel version so I am hesitant about investing the $ to do it right now considering the GFC situation.Anyone built a nose wheel version of the Aeropup? If so what do you think?regards John Cotton

:)Hi to all, it's about time I joined some forums so my customers tell me ! I learnt to fly in a Skyfox, Lightwing and Jabiru and Aeropups of course, this forum may make it easier to keep in touch to answer any questions I am still working out all the site's intricacys, and trying to link it to the facebook site of Aeropup Aircraft.
To clarify a point that some folk seem to miss.... the Supapup Mk 4 was the only single seater produced by us, the Mk 1, 2, and 3 (all single seaters) where produced by a previous company. The Mk 4 can be identified by the simple fact that it was the only model of single seater with folding wings.
The Aeropup name was adopted to differentiate the twin seater (side by side) all of which had the fast fold wing system as standard. Regards John Cotton

Hi Alan yes I remember, due to the GFC I had to close for a while but all is going ahead with Aeropup production, AND here in Austalia not overseas we think we can contain costs using smart engineering so the reduced website price still holds and I dont see it going up even though steel may rise, time will tell. regards JohnHi John, good to see you on the site because we often get people asking about the Aeropups and Supa Pups.If you click on Forums you will see down the page that there is a user group for Aeropup where members have posted before.I remember you stopping production of the Supa Pup but are you still producing the Aeropup?
You may recall I had until recently a Supa Pup Mk4.

Hi from the Aeropup Aircraft Works in SA , with the competition from overseas , the fluctuating dollar, high wages rates , lack of skilled workers due to big money offered by the mining Companys and dealing with a overly burdensome bureaucratic system it means that small companies trying to manufacture quality products in Australia are finding it hard, it's no wonder that so much stuff is made in China ( with often dubious or even dangerous quality ) the Aeropup was originally designed in Australia to be a fully certificated aircraft but we had to stay in the kit build category due to prohibitive costs, not only to certify it but also to manufacture as a fly away aircraft, so whilst we are doing ok and in backorder constantly and just reorganised the factory to speed up production, it is a worrying trend to see our costs going up and margins getting tighter, the answer to this of course is volume production and economies of scale to make things more efficient, unfortunately whilst we get strong interest from oveseas and are exporting some, the costings are such that it is borderline to expand that market without home country support, basically what I am saying is that a culture to support home grown manufacturing needs to develop just as it has in the USA, they always prefer to buy an American product by choice whilst we trend to rely on imports and overlook the Ozzie product which often is better anyway, the comments we have had from overseas indicate that..."it's the strongest airframe for it's class in the world" was a quote from a Canadian who called in and he had been researching kit planes for the last year, I have had many enquiries from overseas who would love to get an Aeropup but put off by the transport and Taxes additions to cost, but with local buying support it can be much more successful so please consider the local product seriously before sending your kids jobs overseas ! 8)

There will be some weight increase agreed but estimates are that it won't impact the MTOW significantly and a steerable nose wheel is the preference I am considering
MTOW may be increased to 600kg under LSA which is another step I may take as well as it complies to LSA rules.
