Sorry for the delay in getting back here I've been away in a Searey flying to Cairns and looking after a newborn so life is busy!

Flights will be $100 for a 15 minute scenic flight. The aircraft will be arriving Friday afternoon for a couple of training session and then we will be set up from 9am or maybe a bit earlier on Saturday morning for scenic flights. I'll either be manning the umbrella and dock or if they are nice to flying the thing!

182 is a better aircraft full fuel and full seats not a problem but more $$ so depends on what you want to carry and how much $$ you have!

They are still there. Two Beavers and the Van, I was down there only a month ago doing some flying. A little quiter but still doing a fair amount. The beaver in Hobart is an ex Sydney Seaplanes aicraft I was lucky enough to deliver and train the owners.

I used to own a glass house just wondering what parts he has?

They run 6 days a week from Cairns give the office a call. Saturdays I think give the best views but Wednesday and Friday cover the most distance although 6 hours flight time in the back of a Caravan does get a little overbearing in the wet season heat!

Check out West Wing Aviation they do the mail runs around the tip and will take passengers along for the day. Not sure how much but it goes 6 days a week and to different places each day.

The only problem and dangar for using the short runway is an EFATO. If he used the long runway he could have landed straight ahead on the remaining runway until he was high enough for a turn back where as off the short runway he would be swimming until he is at about 700'. 849m is heaps for the PC12.

Flying floats is the most fun I have had flying - I've flown variouse ultralights, G.A., Aerobatics, Formation and a bit of low level and nothing compares to landing on a calm water surface, pulling up to a beach and getting out for a swim. Its a must try as far as I'm concerened for everyone!

My old 582 on a Thruster had the high stack radiators and in the warm qld temps would still reach up toward the high side on thr ground or low level but once in the cruise it would settle down. Remeber airspeed cools things down a lot quicker than reducing power so its better to level off low and cool it off and then keep climbing to you higher cruise height. Thats my 25 cents worth so now you have 50 cents!

Rathmines Seaplane splash-in reminder 5th of November – Roulettes Attending!

The 5th of November is less than two weeks away now and the final touch’s are being put together for the festival and splash-in.

This year looks bigger and better than the last with more activities more flying and more fun planned. The Roulettes will flying a display at approximately 1330 and then returning to the festival to sign autographs and talk with the public plus we will have the Tiger Moth fly past, aerobatics and lots more scheduled all day.

Scenic flights will also be available in a DHC-2 Beaver from 10am.

As part of the splash in a spot landing and mooring accuracy competition will be held starting at 1115 (registration will open at 10:00 and close at 11:00) Prizes for accuracy will be awarded and best presented aircraft. Phil Dulhunty will provide his C-180 and Sydney Seaplanes will have a DHC-2 Beaver available for use for the competition (there will be a currency requirement for aircraft hire) There will also be prizes for best presented aircraft.

Entry for the competition will be $25 and all money will go to the Catalina foundation.

Kimberely Air Tours out of Kununurra have a 206 and 208 on floats and keen to expand. If you want something more long term send me a PM as I have access to several different Amphib and straigh float aircraft across Oz.

Once you put a bit of weight on them and a couple of landings they will settle down and spread a little. Although I still like to blame my landings on the springs still beading in....

Actually was perfectly leagal as it was in the process of taking off! The aircraft was a float plane and we where checking out landing areas.

I was just up there doing some training, I flew up there for a few months about 5 years ago. Amazing place and from the air even better.

Pelican has never been closed but requires permission from MIRVAC to use it. We kept our aircraft there for over a year for the RPT service before moving it back to Sydney. Last I heard is that MIRVAC walked away from the deal with Warnervale because it became to hard dealing with the club. Aeropelican and Brindabella would not go back into Pelican as it is too short for there aircraft (860 meters) and they would need to invest far to much to get the airport back up to standard. The airport has huge potential but MIRVAC paid to much for it and now need to sell it for too much or just sit on it until they can get there way and build houses on it. The Warnervale aeroclub as far as I have seen would not be capable or running an RPT service as it cost big bucks to get up and running and keep running.

So anyone with a spare 8 mil?

I'll be trying to get up there depending on weather so might catch Ozzie there?

The aircraft is from the states it has just had a rebuild by Wipeair. We run 29" and 1900 RPM for cruise which normally give you between 95kts and 105kts depending on the aircraft and how straight it is! I'm not totaly sure about the $$ but it would have been in the 500 - 600k by the time it landed in Oz.

Don't stress to much Motz these guys are just your typical junior GA instructors who are only there to fill the log book so they can run off and fly a nice shiny jet. They couldn't care less about the student or standards they are setting.
