  1. lightwing yes. Gazell has been approved for bolly and tecnam is on the way , but expect 12 months wait.!The other question about marap is the fee structure. I cannot find out how this operates . For example if a marap is approved for a particular aircraft ie by its rego number. And the owner pays the fee. Plus cost of engineering, does that owner get a refund later when that marap approval is aplied to a second or third aircraft.

Come on Raaus be up front, publish the fee and cost structure and tell us how it works in terms of costs. I understand that variouse maraps will have different actual costs to do testing, but how does it work!

You should contact the raa office the Tecnam have approval for the BOS 3 bolly prop my application has gone in I spoke to Jared on Wednesday last week

  2. Never operated one in that lower Ground temp. But good to know.

    Noted Thanks

I agree it's a very different (from all other multi cylinder engines) oil circulation systems but it seems to work well, albeit at disconcertingly low pressur.Yes - I worked out long ago that the slower you turn the quicker it seems to get to the "gurgle".

I use the Rotax recommended AeroShell Sport Plus 4 - it is described by Shell as a "Multigrade oil designed to be used in any climate, anywhere in the world" &

"Specially selected base oils incorporating synthetic technology ".

One web page described it as a 10W-40 but most do not give or even hint at a viscosity index.

As a multi grade it will certainly be thinner (than mono grades) when cold (that is when not at full engine operating temp). I don t believe this means that it gets thinner the colder it gets - only that it has lower viscosity at engine start up. If you need thinner at the cold end, you would need to look at something like a 5W-40 or a 0W-30 (not suggesting you or anyone else, is actually seeking thinner oil and as far as I know not recommended for 912's)

  3. I just read in the latest Sport Pilot the rules on biannual testing of ASI, altimeter, and leakage in pitot lines. It was news to me. Is it news to others? Anyway, I can test the ASI against my GPS in two directions and record that in the maintenance log, the other tests I will need to talk to my LAME. It is strange that these tests have not been suggested to me before and don't appear in my maintenance manual. Thanks to the temporary Tech man for writing the note.

Hi these tests have been in the tech manual for some time now

  4. RAAus Future???.....Who would really know?........Maybe it`s begining to become obvious, why many of us who started off in the early days of the AUF, wanted to keep it as simple as possible!Frank.

    Hi frank

That sure is the truth they were the days when flying the true ultralight was fun with not to many regs

  7. Rod Birrells experience is valuable. I'm confident in his ability and motives. We do have a problem with where we will end up. I have felt this would be coming regardless of how and when.it came The signs were there years ago.. We need to keep cool and work our way through it. Nev

  8. It appears that a total of 366.95 (9.6 weeks) of overtime payments have been acknowledged as owing to departing Techman Wayne Mathews by the General Manager. (GM)This is part of an approx $18,000 severance package approved also by the current board, and includes such things as annual holiday pay and holiday loadings.

Someone had to have approved the overtime worked, and it does show that at least Wayne was doing his bit, and then some, for the members, no doubt in a attempt to clear the current registration backlog...............Maj...024_cool.gif.7a88a3168ebd868f5549631161e2b369.gif

  9. Yes he was under a salary remuneration agreement but he was working under an award. There was a provision for payment of what would be considered excess hours.

Below are a couple of extracts from the employment agreement that will throw a little light on what the actual position was which in my humble opinion are NOT commensurate with the expectation placed on Wayne. Clearly the hours he worked were excessive to the point that it was impacting on his health and he was on on medically ordered leave when he was given notice to attend a performance meeting and thereafter summarily terminated.

" ..... Your ordinary hours of work will be a maximum of 38 ordinary hours per week, averaged over twelve (12) months, plus such reasonable additional hours as are reasonably required from time to time.

There may be circumstances where the Company requests that you work additional hours, above those taken into account when determining your remuneration. In this event, prior to requesting that such work be commenced, the Company will make arrangements with you regarding compensation by way of paid "overtime" or the taking of time off in lieu at a mutually convenient time.

The Modern Award applying to your employment is the Airport Employees Award 2010.

Your classification under the Award is Technical Services Officer Level 10....."

  11. Oscar, I can assure you at the office our resolve is to be fully compliant with the regulations and exemptions of regulations. This is more so at the present moment than ever before. Approaching compliance in a flexible manner was clearly what has occurred in the past and got us into the current mess we face. The interests of the RAA are not at odds with compliance. If they ever were it was misguided by individuals and not the organisation. I'd like to point out that many of the non-compliance issues we are dealing with have been inherited from previous managers. A legacy if you will. Our focus not is to not continue to make further errors in the registration process and 'fix' all the past indiscretions. I would not endorse removing a manager that was competent, performing well but 'not allowing rules to be broken'. I think that is the implication you were leading to in your post.

In relation to your comment "Unfortunately, I have to say that the recent performance of the Board/Executive is as transparently obvious as lead and as polished as moss on a rock" I take it both the President and myself are tarnished with the common brush. I am hoping the majority of members will give us a go. I have been and continue to be an advocate for honest and open communications. I have encouraged members to call and communicate with me and other board members. Far too many untruths circulate through the forums, however, that is the electronic communication world we live in. It's easy to throw rocks when you are hundreds of KM's away.

I think I might now cease comments on this thread. I feel I have contributed all I can at the present time.

    Safe flying all.

  13. Hi

How could you say it's immaterial where the Flyin is held the further south it's held the less queenslanders that will attend and that's not really looking after the rag and tube flyers which it should be ,I have been involved with ultralight aircraft since 1980 this was even the auf were formed have owned ten of various types ,have been to all but one natfly at narromine so I think that was nine none at temora as I was against it moving to there like many others I will not be attending whilst it's there.

But I do hope it goes well for you and I'm sure Dave caban will help you all he can
