  1. Folding your map nice and small in a tri-fold config and keep turning it over may help. I use a tri-fold folder that has two clips (landscape shape) and I have the map on the left side and the flight plan on the right, you can then put copies of the airstrip details and all your other details inside the folder within easy reach. It will get easier.

  2. Protec Hearing

Have a pair of ear plugs from this guy for pistol shooting, but I see on his web site that they do have headsets as well. May be worth a call (Lex Shipp 0894483700).

Not shore how they will go in the tropics as even the the ordinary headset can give you some grief if you don't use the cloth covers. Hope this helps

  3. I have been flying for 25 years and I know that flying low feels fantastic but there are some rules that we should all follow. First of al you should be checked out by a competent instructor. Flying low over a property without permission is asking for trouble (illegal). Horses, Cattle, sheep and other stock will shift fences. I have been involved in mustering so have seen this. The other very important aspect of low flying is that there is lots of very solid things that you can hit and this will take all the fun out of low flying. Who cares if it is legal or not lets stay alive and enjoy a fantastic recreation.

  4. The lack of height preception over large bodies of water such as dams & lakes when there is no wind can also cause some real grief at low level. Plenty of air between you and the water is the best way to avoid getting wet.

I have not read any details re the 337 accident so no disrespect

    is intended.

I am new to to RAAus but have been flying since 1993 in GA. I hold a PPL and only fly for fun. I got involved with RAAus to help a friend who is buying a small bird and needed a little input. Did my conversion in a Jabiru J230 and since then have flowen a Terrier 200, Foxbat A22, Batam and a Eurofox. I think I may be hooked!
