The bolt head without a washer is much thinner than a nut and washer You might deepen the spot facing on the caliper IF it doesn't weaken it. You can round the edges of the nut as well provided there is enough hex to hold it when tightening the nut. Nev

just flock the bolt head in then you have 1 spanner adjustments.
  2. when this happened to me i blocked off the side that failed by folding and tying with lockwire then filling up with brake fluid again and bleeding, it stops very good on 1 brake just to get you home a lot better than no brakes i then fitted the dual calaper design it looks a lot stronger than the single t plate.

  3. have seen exhaust valves stick in from carbon on the valvestem in the 2200 once fixed it self after about 5 min another time had to land and take head off to free valve & put new one in,it shakes quite violently on 3 cylinders it wouldnt happen with solid tappets

  4. also keep an eye on aluminium backing plate, i had my j170 throw a brake caliper not long ago at around a thousand hours and it belted the side a few times then fell off, have since updated to dule caliper brakes and new disks.

  5. I think the recon solid lifter engine is more bullet proof the new hydrolic lifter engines are easyer to maintain though just dont supercool them most through bolts break after practicing simulated engine failure (windmilling the prop on decent+engine shock cooling) they also use a tad more fuel due to bigger jeting than solid lifter.
