I told a friend the other day there was no way I'd get into one of those Aerochute things...bloody dangerous.Well, the figures certainly give a lie to my bias, that's for sure.

A few random snaps below from my visit this morning to the Evans Heads Great Eastern Fly-in.The organisers did a "bang up" job and managed to attract a good crowd from the public. There were food trucks a-plenty and there was a hotrod and classic cars display on at the same time today so the event attracted varied interest groups. There was a great display of warbirds and the aerobatic display of the P51 Mustang was terrific!.. just love the sound of that 12 cylinder beast! I only saw a small contingent of RAA aircraft there which was a little disappointing, although perhaps some left yesterday as I was only able to make it for the theis morning (Sunday).

 

Nevertheless, I had a terrific time and highly recommend it. I will def be back again next year.

Tends to happen when you hit trees.

Having travelled Gunn Point road quite a bit , its a wide dirt road So something has seriously gone amiss to prevent landing on it or was it dark at the time ?

The problem with over use is created by pilots using 126.7 as a chatter channel AND giving1. Initial Inbound call

2. What they had for breakfast

 

3. General obversations

 

4. 3nm inbound

 

5. Joining circuit area

 

6. Joining downwind

 

7. Joining base

 

8. Joining final

 

9. Reporting clear of runway

 

Etc. when there is no other aircraft "near" their area of operation at the time causing traffic at near airports with circuit traffic communication difficulties.

 

Remember "potential for traffic conflict" when deciding on what calls are relevant.

 

Also over use of the radio does nothing for separation with potential "non radio" aircraft.

 

Short, precise, and relevant is what is best.

 

More is better, as promoted by some, is not the answer.

You betcha.I can completely understand why he doesn't want it but he brought the property knowing that it had the strip. I heard via the grape vine that he always had the intention to have it removed. Cheap block thinks now he can profit from it.

So just spent some time this arvo doing the L1 online course and I'm left baffled.Apparently I scored 46/50. Does that mean I pass? I assume so, but if that is true why doesn't it tell me that and why am I invited to attempt the test again...? I honestly don't understand the outcome of this test. Bizarre.

I went out for a few hours this morning, could not ask for better weather.
