  1. A colleague of mine (in NZ) faces Health & Safety prosecution following the midair collision of his aircraft and a club aircraft, apparently both on finals, which resulted in the deaths of both pilots.

I am doing what I can to help him prepare.

We are looking for similar instances, both here and overseas.

If anyone here knows of such instances, please let me know.

    Thank you.

Hi at Dairy flat Auckland about 25 + years ago

2 Cessna 172 both joined on final

one on top of the other

1 crew dead top crew lived

    cheers Hamish

  2. Why did you buy an External GPS with it.Isn't your Tablets GPS OK, or do you fly out the Outback regularly?

    Cheers.

    Used it in the USA

    external GPS was only $35

The signal is tiny at 100 mile range for a small USB aerial to pick up.

it is brilliant when connected to fore flight

picks up so much visually unseen traffic

would be a huge safety improvement if CASA and FAA rebroadcast all traffic.

  4. Pretty much all airports get development right up to their boundaries. Essendon is no different to most of them in that regard. Air Ambulance uses it and that's a plus for the community. It was the Major Airport for the Airlines till 1970, and was built up on all sides except the northern end even then. There's been a constant push by real estate entities to get it closed for years. The signs erected and development there should never have been allowed to happen though I doubt it would have made any difference to this occurrence which was a charter company with engines in a plane that have one of the best safety records of any engine built. You can fill an airport up with development but you will rarely remove development to establish an airport. Everyone wants cheap airfares and access to planes but no one wants an aerodrome near them. We as users of airports should understand that principle. Nev

FAA (usa) only allows aviation activity within the airport lands.

Even regulates the activity of private hanger's , on any airport that received Federal funds
