  1. This is the type of fuel filter recommended in the U.K. It’s a plastic gauze that doesn’t clog up in the same way as paper ones and you can see if there is any slime on it or sediment in it. I don’t know where you can get them in South Africa though I have read somewhere that there is one available and recommended in S.A. that is made by Mercedes. Personally I wouldn’t want one you can’t see the actual filter gauze on daily inspection. I also wouldn’t want to change it out every 25 hours especially if I were flying the 80 hours per month your flying. That’s a new filter almost every week. If you’ve got someone coming from the U.K. you could get a bunch of these from skydrive.co.uk. That’s what I do (to Kenya).

  2. Ha! Not sure about the 150 but Alan did my Permit to fly inspection on Saturday. He is retired (84 now) but offers his experience to Recreational Aircraft Association of Kenya. I would definitely give Gordon a call. He is very knowledgeable, a fantastic instructor and a top bloke. The foxbat is a good all round aircraft to learn on and he replaces with new every three years or so. I did my training with him in 2011 on trikes, they have their own strip with crosswind runway and they offer cheap accomodation on site.

    Karibu tena Kenya.

  3. My condolences to the families of the two men who were killed in this tragic accident. This thread is wandering all over the place. It is easy to start a new topic and I can see that at least 2 could be started. Future safety to stop similar incidents from occurring and investigation into this specific wing as there have been a number of accidents in Australia and elsewhere. If someone really has a bee in their bonnet start collecting data and posting it. Keeping posts under topics can make it so much more useful to find information in the future. Not to mention the deceased family's reading all this in the future when they want to reflect on how well thought of their loved ones were. Chris Kyne

  4. Malindi would have been an amazing place back then. Its still nice but more developed now so pros and cons I guess. Here are a few photos of my local flying area. The first one, Diani Beach, I took yesterday, looking North towards the airfield (Ukunda). The second one (a couple of weeks ago) Chale Island 9 miles South of the airstrip. Third is dropping through a hole just to show the aircraft.
