Once a wet sump engine is running the height of the oil in the sump will fall as it's flinging everywhere and being pumped to rocker boxes etc ( from which some of it will drain when the engine stops. ONE litre of oil is not much for an engine of this size but as long as air is not drawn in the oil pump and the oil doesn't get too hot all that matters is that the small amount of oil is getting circulated more that would be the case if the amount was greater so a more frequent oil change could be argued.

Large amounts of oil require a long time to warm up. One disadvantage of a small quantity is that it might get low on a longer flight. The maker has control of that. Nev

Within reason (weight), more oil is better than less because:

(a) there is more oil away from the hot spots, so they draw cooler oil.

(b) The percentage of trash and contamination is less per litre, so less wear
