What's better than 1 DC-3?

2 DC-3's :)

I received notification last night from Steve Core of Discovery Air Tours at Bankstown that 2 DC-3's were coming to Cowra for a charter. The two aircraft were Discovery Air Tours VH-DNA and Pionair ZK-AMS. Arrival was around 10:10am with DNA ariving first followed by AMS shortly after. Perfect landing by the two.

I had the scanner on but only heard Melbourne centre talking to the crew of both aircraft but unfortunately could not hear them. I heard MC inform AMS that DNA were 13 miles ahead and then say to DNA that AMS was behind on the same track and travelling slightly faster than DNA.

I got a look through both aircraft and managed to take a lot of photos.

Departure time was around 3:45pm. Things were going so well this afternoon. Both aircraft decided to start up and move a little closer so the passengers didn't have so far to walk. Pionair was turning around pretty close to the fence and I could see that he wasn't going to make it. I was waving for him to stop but he kept going. Finally he realised he wasn't going to make it. A great day for spotting. See pics below.

How close was that? You almost had a priceless photo there mate! Love to see more pics if you can link to them.

Classic aircraft - gotta get out to Bankstown to get on one of their harbour flights one of these days. I emailed Discovery a while ago for dates but never had a reply but I'd better organise it sooner rather than later.

Hey Ian good to have met you today. Great photos. Ohh and welcome aboard 8)

DC-3's decided to leave a little early so you missed all the action. I was told there will be either 1 or 2 coming back on 1st March. Keep watching the site for details.

Security Mystery ???

Hi all,

As with most " High Tech ' security, some things get classified TOP SECRET, so unless u have the correct clearance u cannot access it. Reposted photo ... Ian

Cheers Ian.

VH-SBL and VH-DNA both from Discovery Air Tours are here now.

Remember the photos I took of the close call with the Pionair wing tip? Well I almost got the pilot into trouble over those  He wasn't too happy that I had put the photos on the net. Well he should've been more careful and if he did hit the post then things would be much worse. But everyone was ok about it and no harm was done. 8)

What's better....

Sorry about the quality it WAS 1973 in the tropics.

Unfortunately all my negatives were in the only box that got wet while sitting under a tarp on the wharf for six weeks.

When I got them the books, negatives etc were welded into a mass of glug that grew the most incredible collection of mold on and through it.

Re: what's better...

The other line on that same day. If you look closely you'll see there are two Ansett "3s" behind the last TAA one.

This link goes to the imageshack site. No photo.
