May have helped having a Flight Engineer on crew?

Pilots of these modern technologically complex aircraft are only going for the ride, anything complex goes wrong, very little chance of saving the aircraft from disaster 🤢

Every time I see this stuff, I think of an aircraft with no numbers, a person with no training, no instructor, a plane in a big paddock, fully fueled, 100 hours YouTube training, spend half a day doing bunny hops.
insurance? What that?
After lunch…….just send it 😁😁

All too complex specs for me, I would rather a Lister Diesel 🤩

When it comes to Aviation, I have never seen such a disorganised bureaucracy amongst so many organisations, with their fingers in the aviation regulatory pie.
There are restrictions and conflicting rules and the people administering them, it’s just a hopeless mess, much of it that Joe average pilot and aircraft owner have little idea, nor can understand.-

The SAAA are THE experts on this in Australia.
SAAA Authorised Persons probably issue the vast majority of special certificates of airworthiness for amateur built aircraft in Australia - not CASA.
So the SAAA documentation written to assist people to get their airworthiness certificate is an excellent source of documentation - probably the best there is. The next step is to talk to SAAA and an AP.
There is ongoing negotiations between CASA and SAAA on some changes to CASA instruments in relation to aircraft coming from RAA to VH.
There will be a positive announcement shortly, to benefit many aircraft owners

raaus assure me they are pushing casa to allow homebuilts to be used for training whether the owner built it or not.
It’s a good idea but, all it takes is 1 person to chuck a spanner in the works, egos, personalities, department politics, all play a part.
Logic and commonsense does not always apply. Remember Human Beings are involved 🤩

It is essential for any RAAus member to understand that the CAOs (95.55 for three axis, 95.32 for weight shift and 95.10 for single seat), have been around for almost as long as RAAus has (or the AUF for those who remember that).
CASA has always set the rules to operate an RAAus aircraft and while the organisation has spent many many hours, days and years arguing with CASA, in the end, the regulator (CASA) is the boss of Australian aviation, not RAAus.
Expecting anything different after 40 + years is never going to happen.
Read the rules, understand the rules, go flying following the rules and you can enjoy the privileges.Rules can be open to change, the methodology of communications and negotiations are the key. Arguments achieve nothing, establish credibility with what you see as a problem or a change you want made, THEN back that with offers of solutions and suggestions.
If you don’t have a go, you will never know 🤩
CASA are making some changes in respect to a certain part of Aviation, I can’t reveal but was initiated by putting up a case, to improve future aspects of the rules, to modernise the relevant Part in question.
Whilst CASA make the rules for RAAus, right now there are questions about the future of RAAus as a result of impending legal outcomes?Be aware that if the worst comes to the worst, CASA probably have a plan to cater for that, too.

Airport parking stations (Wilson Parking) is a licence to print money, Many floors of parking, you get giddy going around the entry/exit ramps, and run up a couple of K's looking for a parking space. All at an exorbitant rate per minute.
I always used offsite parking in Brisbane, Andrews! Drop my car off, their shuttle bus to Airport. Car were inside old warehouses. Be away for month overseas, arrive back call shuttle bus to be picked up. Come back to a clean washed car and drive away. Service was great at a good price. Never a problem. I used to always drive Rocky/Brisbane rather than fly, was all part of our trip experiences.

Was made that offer to set up my business in San Francisco years ago, as I had a few day job clients there.
but declined it.
Now, I can afford to fly there in the future, 4 time a year to fly Part 103, offer to keep my aircraft at friends ranch I have known for 25 years from my 4x4 trips years ago.

I love a Battle🤩 in my past I have had Commonwealth Legislation changed, battled one of the largest Corporations in the World and won, single handed.
IF you don’t have a go, you will never know 🤩

so now i know its casa stopping me , i know i can't win.
i am over it . its too bloody hard for something that is supposed to be enjoyable.
Now you now WHY I am championing the cause, for FAA FAR Part 103 as per U.S. rules for Australia?
I am in the process of building a case, in my submission to the Minister for Aviation and CASA to hear my case heard.
I am currently in contact with the U.S. as part of my process, in an attempt to further that case.
Right now, I won’t say any more than that.
I know people will bag me for it, but I have NEVER let other human beings define me 🤩

But it does not indicate under what part, or rule identification it comes under.
Michael should have quoted the relevant document in its entirety, with references.
I believe him to be correct, though. It’s easy to serve someone in a text msg, but outcome of same conversation face to face, is usually far different, even a phone call is better than text msgs. -
My Thruster T300 was grounded from training, on a phone call from RAAus, no documentation, no letter nothing.
no reason either.
The lady was not nice about it, either. So I told her to do what she liked, I guessed the 582 may have Been close to time out?My logbook showed OK. I told her I had a brand new zero timed complete factory engine to put in, anyway.
I think my parting shot was…..leave me alone. I also have a complete new set of approved skins for it, too.so they can shove that as well…….f…..them. 🤩
Now……mmmmmm…….think I can put on the VH register? Might be my next plan, crapping on me is not a good idea 👍

I met Bryan and had a look through his hangar when I bought a Thruster single from Holbrook in 2021. He was an amazing craftsman, the cars were something else. The ultralight museum, also amazing.
I originally met Bryan in 1976, we were members of a clandestine CB Radio Club in Albury NSW. At that time he owned an Orange ‘69 or so Corvette, worked for a Defence Dept contractor, from memory.

Is a legislative security mandate, ASIC is not going away, regardless. IF you are a CPL, it’s part of your flight bag, if you are a PPL you will need it at some time, if you are RAA, just don’t have one and go to airfields where it not needed.
Just fly happy and IF you need extra fuel? Take a fuel bladder or make arrangement to avoid ASIC required airstrips.
You would have more chance of tow starting a 747 made out of concrete, than getting ASIC repealed?

If there ever was a chance I could go, this is the flyin I would like to attend. A personal friend of mine from 50 years ago ,was a luminary in Aviation for that place. Sadly, I never got back there in recent times, Bryan Gabriel RIP 😣 one of the most knowledgeable in the country on Ultralights. One day I will get there, to see his legacy 👍

" ......it's just the system we have."
No offence RossK but I am appalled by this statement. None of us should settle for a bad system or part thereof.
".......more traction with the RAAus Board members....."
Thanks for that advice. I actually wrote to RAA, assuming that correspondence is readout & discussed at Board Meetings (as per standard Club/Organisation practice). The response I received was from Maxine CEO. I am now wondering if the response is her position or RAA's position😈
I would allege any correspondence from Maxine, would be penned by others, I can guess who but won’t name them.
A reply I received from Maxine, in good faith was worded exactly as I would expect from a certain person.
It would be horrible sad if she goes down with the ship, if it all turns pear shaped.
But I hope the man in question? He deserves to end up living in a Bunnings Tent, his history precedes him.

Let me say this, none of this is gonna get any better as time goes on. There will be more charges or restrictions on where you can land so the best bet is that as many people as possible band together and make landing places that are informal not widely published but shared amongst like-minded groups of people, and that way you can stage impromptu fly ins wherever you want on an as needed basis and stay away from the general area is populated by airports themselves.
you can have barbecue days get together’s whatever. For those that can build air strips with no restrictions or potential problems well then do it.. I’ve looked closely at this and decided I’m simply going to have a large paddock big enough to land anything in it of reasonable size, it won’t have a wind sock but it will have a weather station link through a large antenna set up on a Wi-Fi hub so you can fly within 5 km of my paddock. Read the weather station with the app on your iPhone or iPad and get wind speed wind direction. How much rain in the last 24 hours and whatever else that weather station will put out. Next, the weather station will also be on the Internet and shared amongst people who are like-minded and may want to come to my paddock and land so that a day in advance they can see the weather conditions at my property. I could even make drums of fuel available for visitors and barbecue facilities.
share the information amongst like-minded people and simply have fun doing it without the world or anyone else knowing what’s going on.That way no visible windsock identifies it as an airfield its simply a large grass area. It happens to be conveniently available for aircraft to land on and takeoff. I can even make a car available for people who want to go to the local Bunnings or Supercheap Aerospace to buy Chinesium parts to fix their planes if they need to.
The only problem will be the paddock won’t be large enough for 727s to throw big doughnuts in 🤩🤩-

This video sets out the somewhat similar situation in the US, but all based on ADSB data collection. It claims that this is contrary to assurances from government that the data would never be used for non-safety-related purposes, nor for regulation enforcement.
(The key points are made between mins 05:00 and 10:00)
So if it becomes too hard to fly your N number aircraft? Because of increasing regulations, increasing fees? Unfriendly airports?
Those people who are sick of all the increasing b/s in Aviation in the U.S.?They can still enjoy their Aviation pastime, albeit with some restrictions, just change to FAA FAR Part 103? At least they are still able to fly low budget, and have fun 🤩

I had 35 Clubs and Associations in Victoria to administer in a State Association and we then had 8 Associations in the National Federation. It worked very well because, for example you could have a 95.10 Club or Association with like-minded people helping each other while, if they wanted, travelling to Interstate swap meets, competitions, etc - anything they wanted to do while the State Body interfaced with Insurance and administation.
Yes and while everybody cooperates and works together and no egos get in the way and there is a resolution policy in place if anything comes up yes it can all work together and work well but some organisations just seemingly can’t get themselves together and ends up in a disgruntled mess Unfortunately

There's one small problem with flying Part 103 in the U.S., and it's the simple fact that the population of the U.S. is 346M, in the same area of land mass as Australia, with 25M people.
It's not like vast areas of the U.S. are like Outback Qld, with 1 person per 1000 sq kms.
And this sums up Part 103 flying in the U.S.;
"While Part 103 prohibits flying over congested areas (defined as one or more people), it can be difficult to ensure absolute compliance, especially in urban or populated areas."
The place is chock-o full of people and aircraft, and you plan flutter around in the equivalent of an airborne bicycle, with no equipment that you can use, to find other aircraft in the vicinity?
Then there's the not-so-small problem that law enforcement in the U.S. is brutal, and you may find yourself in jail for infringements of laws you didn't even know existed.
Add in the litigious nature of U.S. society (whose reach is not limited to America), and if some offended party claims injury or otherwise, and launches a lawsuit against you, you may wish you'd never seen the place.
Then there's the point that virtually every American owns a firearm (or 113), and they're basically very angry people, and they're ready and willing to shoot at anything overflying "their patch!", with high-powered weaponry (AR-15's and AK-47's are very popular), and this could make flying just a little more dangerous than you ever imagined.
I've seen more than one American on other forums bragging about shooting down "nosey" drones, and annoying "noisey" RC aircraft, overflying "their patch".
Chicago is pretty dangerous, even on the ground 🤩

Air India crash
in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents

IF the aircraft had a Flight Engineer, the fuel switches would have been on his control panel and his responsibility.
Pilots are for flying the aircraft, one of a Flight Engineers job is to keep the plane running.
Just my useless opinion……..
