  1. I use a quality silicone spray such as WD40 professional, lubrication benefits would certainly outweigh any negative effects.

if your in a very dusty environment then perhaps not but to each his own.

a small amount of grease on the tow ball sme theory but it should be degreased and changed every so often depending on environmen..

  2. I would like to do a factory course but the guy who did them has gone and they are no more. This was even before the virus stuff.

Are there any other good hands-on courses around?

I would be in on that, i did do the MW Fly heavy maintenance course in Milan was excellent

  3. ive not flowin my sp for a while and have noticed 3 cylinders during prop pull through are not as high as the other, nearly half the resistance in fact. Guessing rings are issue as valves haven’t needed adjustment for a few years, (about 96 hours) tappets still around 10thou gap. I Have noticed a bit of oil in intake but oil consumption doesn’t appear un usually high at this stage. She is the original engine 2001 with 780 hours, jabiru informed me there is no heads available and that they would be able to do top end over haul late may. My thoughts were to strip the cylinders and heads off an send to jab for service but after talking to them got the impression they want the whole engine. Any thoughts or opinions?

Take it out and give it an hour at high rpm 2950, they love it and that will clean the cobwebs and rust out , then change the oil and filter

  4. I'd like to make up a spares pack of nuts, bolts, washers, split pins and whatever else might be useful. There is no point in carrying things which will never be used, so standard assortment packs are not much good.

I'll get things started by listing:

    AN 3 nyloc nuts - 20 only

    AN4 nyloc nuts - 20 only

    AN3 thin washers -10 only

    AN3 thick washers - 10 only

    AN4 thin washers -10 only

    AN4 thick washers 10 only

    AN5 thick washers 5 only

    Bolts: AN3

    AN4

    AN5

    Split pins:

Bushes: ( the ones used on the flaps , they are AN3 bore and just cut from a tube. I reckon better brass ones if they can be found )

??? Other suggestions welcome, comments too.

An3 an4 and an5 penny washers are also useful to have on hand will get you out of trouble, As well as AN (a)bolts and nuts ,Cotter pins.

The washers can be uses up to a maximum of 3 per bolt if you have to but preferably buy the appropriate lengths e.g AN3-4 and so on keeping in mind between 1 and max 3 threads should be protruding from the nut.
