  1. Many thanks for your offer, Blueadventures. However, I have a sister who lives at Nebo, so will take the opportunity to catch up with her. My Army mate is George Mansford a living legend. Joined the Army as a Private soldier and ended up a Brigadier!

  2. G`Day Charles,:welcome:......... I fly from our rural property at Deeral! I`m 11 nautical miles as the Crow flies and about 15 klm by road, south of Gordonvale.

When do you plan on arriving here and how many aircraft would want to land?

    Franco (Frank)

    Hi Franco

Many thanks for your prompt reply AND for your offer for me to land at your property.

We anticipate there will be four Savannahs doing our trip north but I expect only me would like to land at your place.

We are trying to foster a young fellow who works in WA on an oil rig ship. Covid 19 has completely upset his shifts so we are not sure of our departure date.

When we know that I will let you know. Then we can work out if it is best for you if I fly in on the way up or the way back.

Thank you again. I can now talk to my old Army Mate.

    Regards

    Charles

  3. On local then cross country...

At the moment, I fill up the airplane I train in at Cowra from the 98 bowser (in Cowra) into Jerrys and cart them to the airport, and fuel 'my plane', I do the alcohol test on new fuel, and and dump the bottom of the jerry cans .

Now, if I am planning a cross country, seems I need to either

    a) go avgas : dump the MOGAS out of the system and go to AVGAS for the trip.

    b) stay mogas : have a sufficient endurance to en route via MOGAS availability either at the airport, or get into local town with a couple of 20 litre jerrys or transport bladders. Or carry extra inboard

is this the general method ?

  4. Hi all,

I'm beginning to put a listing together of all airfield which have access to mogas on site, via bowser or drum, however I'm not having much luck searching online. ERSA is great for avgas but not forthcoming about Mogas.

Would really appreciate your help through posting any airfields you know of with Mogas available and any arrangements for its use. Btw, if this already exists in some form then would be great to share.

Once I get a bit of a list together happy to share.

    Thanks

  5. Hi Guys

    I'm Charles. I just finished building a Savannah S.

With a few other Savannah owners we are planning a trip from Caboolture to Cape York.

I have an old Army Mate who lives in the vicinity of Gordonvale, up near Cairns. Does anyone have or know of a strip near there where I could land?

    Regards
