  1. Thanks for the replies, I suppose 3 yrs isn't too long to wait?poke_tongue_out.gif.5a7d1a1d57bd049bd5fb0f49bf1777a8.gif I have since relocated to the UK so a Sonex is waayyyy down my list. Am now rebuilding a Sonerai II. Good luck with interest in your projects. I hope you get the sale you want. Hope the weather is better with you than over here.

  2. Rivet question?

    Hey Toby,

Still looking forward to updates but I have a question. I was reading some of your blog posts and in one of them your Dad went and bought more rivets. Are they stainless steel rivets from the local hardware store or pukka aircraft stuff from someone like Aircarft Spruce?

    Cant wait for more posts...

    Best wishes

  3. Hey Dano,Thanks for the interest in the builders blog. We are still busy building and I have HEAPS of stuff to put up on the blog but time hasn't been on my side for the past couple of months. Rest assured that once I start putting more stuff up I'll let all of my loyal followers here know.

To date the Wing Spars are pretty much complete and we had her all rigged up the other day. I have a small video of it sitting in the driveway with wings on (well spars anyway) and I gotta say it looked NUTS! I'll endeavour to put the vid on the Blog ASAP.

    Cheers

    C'mon Toby, We're dying here!!!!!! :big_grin::big_grin:

  4. Toby,

I was looking at all the great pics you posted of your fuz build and wondered what you were using to bend your gussets? (fuz and gusset should NOT be in the same sentence 006_laugh.gif.0f7b82c13a0ec29502c5fb56c616f069.gif)

Do you have a small brake or a technique you might like to share?

    Best wishes

  5. Hey TobyJust went to check out your blog and getting a message that it has been hacked. I am hoping all your good work is still ok and that this has not caused you any grief.

    Cheers

    Rob

I B*****dy hate hackers:censored::censored:thumb_down, should all have their bits removed. Hope you are back online soon Toby, we are all enjoying your build.051_crying.gif.fe5d15edcc60afab3cc76b2638e7acf3.gif

  6. I just wondered if all you Sonex fans out there knew of anyone who may wish to sell a part completed Sonex. Just looking for a leg up in the building process as time is a bit short.

Not looking for a finished one unless I can get a repairman's cert for the plane?

Where is the best place to source aluminium for building too?

    Happy and safe flying everyone

  7. I know this has been looked at before but is there any new info about converting the EA81. Bushcaddy posted some useful info a couple of years ago but I wonder if he has an update on the flying of his EA81 with redrive.

Any advice on what needs doing to convert the engine? I'm pretty practical but am looking for a cost effective power plant with about 100-120HP.

    All advice welcome:help:

    Happy flying everyone

    Chris

Thanks for the tool list Toby, kinda what I thought but I will ensure that if I go ahead I will make sure I have all the right ones. Glad you are building with the 3rd wheel at the back, where it should be, looks better that way. ( no offence all you nose wheelers, dont have a tail wheel rating yet). That's where mine will be.

Slarti, glad you're still enjoying (green with envy), I will give Gary a call nearer the time. Might hire a local plane and fly down to taree (is that right???) to have a go in one myself and then probably get into lots of trouble by parting with a substantial amout of cash:hittinghead:

    Fly safe

  9. Now that I have landed here in Aus and can finally get started on making a workshop:clap: I was wondering what tools I would need to build a Cheetah/Sierra.

I have had the DVD from Gary (oh he makes it look sooo easy:laugh:) and the planes look GREAT.......

Any advice on kitting out the workshop from you builders out there.

p.s. had a great time reading Slarti's and Biggle's adventures building theirs, hope they are still as much fun as the first flight.

  10. Hi Chris. Not much near Noosa but take a drive down to Caboolture and there are AUF aircraft down there, a Tecnam Echo available. There is also a J-3 Cub which will get that tailwheel endorsement sorted out.

Went up to Suncoast Caloola Flying and getting my RA-Aus Certificate sorted. Friendly and lovely new Evector Sportstar with that New Plane smell. J3 endorsement sounds good, been meaning to do that for some time. May see you there sometime.011_clap.gif.c796ec930025ef6b94efb6b089d30b16.gif
