  2. Thanks for the replies, I suppose 3 yrs isn't too long to wait? I have since relocated to the UK so a Sonex is waayyyy down my list. Am now rebuilding a Sonerai II. Good luck with interest in your projects. I hope you get the sale you want. Hope the weather is better with you than over here.
  3. Oooh Toby, you do like to tease us........ (thanks for the info about the rivets)
  4. Rivet question? Hey Toby, Still looking forward to updates but I have a question. I was reading some of your blog posts and in one of them your Dad went and bought more rivets. Are they stainless steel rivets from the local hardware store or pukka aircraft stuff from someone like Aircarft Spruce? Cant wait for more posts... Best wishes Chris:keen:
  5. C'mon Toby, We're dying here!!!!!! :big_grin::big_grin:
  6. Toby, I was looking at all the great pics you posted of your fuz build and wondered what you were using to bend your gussets? (fuz and gusset should NOT be in the same sentence ) Do you have a small brake or a technique you might like to share? Best wishes Chris
  7. Hows the build going Toby? Haven't had an update fix for a while:thumb_up:

  12. Still looking and enjoying the blog Toby. Just out of interest, what are you using to cut your fusalage tubes with, a bandsaw or a chop saw? Nice looking fuz though:thumb_up: Chris
  13. Sitting in it, making plane noises, cooooool !!!!!!!! :lost:Nice work..
  14. Need to rename you speedy, you must be trying to rival Slarti and Biggles for constructing a cheetah in the shortest possible time.
  15. I'll be watching, a tailing wheel Cheetah Sierra is on my list. Good luck with the build guys:thumb_up:
  16. I just wondered if all you Sonex fans out there knew of anyone who may wish to sell a part completed Sonex. Just looking for a leg up in the building process as time is a bit short. Not looking for a finished one unless I can get a repairman's cert for the plane? Where is the best place to source aluminium for building too? Happy and safe flying everyone Chris
  17. Thanks John, Copied, saved, filed in triplicate for reference. Woo hoo, engine here we come Chris:clap:
  18. Didn't see that one Maj, sounds a bit complicated for my taste, I like to keep it simple. I would love to have some more details of your conversion though John, if it's not too much trouble.
  19. Hi John, thought I would PM you about your EA81 conversion. Sound ideal for me at 80 hp +. Any advice about the best way to go about it and any help where to get a suitable engine to recon? Sorry about the questions but new to Aus. If it's too much bother then just tell me to bugger off. lol Best wishes and thanks for the update Chris
  20. Hey John, thanks for that, seems to fit my bill too. Just need to get hold of a suitable motor!!!:thumb_up:
  21. I know this has been looked at before but is there any new info about converting the EA81. Bushcaddy posted some useful info a couple of years ago but I wonder if he has an update on the flying of his EA81 with redrive. Any advice on what needs doing to convert the engine? I'm pretty practical but am looking for a cost effective power plant with about 100-120HP. All advice welcome:help: Happy flying everyone Chris
  22. Now that I have landed here in Aus and can finally get started on making a workshop:clap: I was wondering what tools I would need to build a Cheetah/Sierra. I have had the DVD from Gary (oh he makes it look sooo easy:laugh:) and the planes look GREAT....... Any advice on kitting out the workshop from you builders out there. p.s. had a great time reading Slarti's and Biggle's adventures building theirs, hope they are still as much fun as the first flight. Chris
  23. Thanks Daryl, just did my RA-AUS cert in a sportster with Jen at Suncoast Flying at Gympie. Good instruction and what a lovely airfield. Will get to some more flying ina few weeks. :)
  24. Went up to Suncoast Caloola Flying and getting my RA-Aus Certificate sorted. Friendly and lovely new Evector Sportstar with that New Plane smell. J3 endorsement sounds good, been meaning to do that for some time. May see you there sometime.
