  1. Hi,

Living in Darwin and having connections in Arnhem Land, I intend to travel there quite a lot, unfortunately, most of the time, the only fuel available is the "Low Aromatic" Opal fuel.

    WIKI

It is rated 91 RON so it should be ok for the 912UL.

I tried as much as I could to find some information about the use of "Low Aromatic" Opal fuel in a Rotax 912 (UL) but unfortunately I could not find if using it will damage the engine or will impact on the performances of the engine.

I don't intend to use it all the time, only to fly while in Arnhem Land (4-8 hours) and to come back to Darwin (3 hours), once in Darwin I will use the Vortex 95 again.

Looking forward to hear your advice or to guide me to a website where they talk about it.

My apologies if this subject has already been covered.

  2. Hi,

3 months ago when the ferry pilot brought my Savannah VG from North QLD to Darwin he told me that the Left Wing is flying low and he was annoyed during the X-country flight that the aircraft was rolling to the left.

He could not release the stick for too long.

I am now almost at the end of the X-Country endorsement and I start to find it quite annoying too.

I would like to get some advice on how to get this fixed.

Fixed trim pad on one aileron ?

    Aileron adjustment only ?

The Savannah is a VG model with the 912UL 80HP

    Thank you for your help.

  3. Hi,

Does anybody here have seen / tried / tested this new EMS for Rotax engine : The EngiBox ?

I own a Savannah VG with a 912 UL and I reckon it will be a nice tool to use for monitoring the Engine and also for post flight check up of all engine parameters.

It also has a Bluetooth output that could be good for bigger tablet and better visibility on the dashboard.

  4. Hi Rick,

The camera run on batteries, around 2.5 Hours, you can connect a battery pack to it, that will make the setup a bit more complicated but its possible.

For emergency landing practice, we are always on the look and also part of the "every 10 miles CLEAROFF" check is the F for Force landing where we pick up a spot just in case every 10 miles.

Concerning the outer ailerons shortened I don't know enough about it, I can only tell you that this Savannah was one of the first VG built by the previous ICP dealer Tom Abell in 2003.

How is the outer ailerons supposed to look like ?

    Cheers,

  5. Hi There,

After looking around for a few years and researching what would be a good compromise to do video mapping I ending up using the Garmin VIRB.

I tried the GoPro and I wasn't very happy with it.

    - hard work to manually synchronise track and video

    - not really user friendly

The VIRB has an inbuilt GPS with some extra sensors that are nice for aviation videos.

I found the VIRB working good and VIRB Edit is a pretty good program.

The sensors or not always on the money but most of the time it's good.

Here is a short video I made using 2 Garmin VIRB Elite Cameras during a Nav with my instructor over Kakadu National Parc :

    The equipment used :

    - Garmin VIRB Elite with Prop filter

    - VibeX mount for the vibrations

    - Pre-edited in Garmin VIRB Elite

    - Edited in Final Cut Pro X

Any of you guys using a similar setup ?

    Happy days !

    Xavier
