I'm probably one amongst many frustrated Canberran aviators. Political apathy is here to stay for a little while longer- perhaps we need a benevolent dictatator for several years to cut through middle management, safe political decisions, environmental impact statements etc. The recipe to derail any development these days calls for a pinch of vocal irate resident, or endangered cockroach. Why not bypass the political process. Any interest out there in a private syndicate, airpark on periphery of Australia's capital, recent study demonstrating upwards 5pc return? I'll put my deposit on a hangar site if someone can organise it for me please......

Noticed a yellow Gazelle flipped over on its roof this afternoon, on grass verge, 1/3 way down rwy22. Collapsed nose wheel. Some oil etc on edge of rwy. Could be one of the flying school planes but not certain. Assuming it must have happened today as no other news. Calm conditions today. No word on injuries. Humbling site when lining up - made sure to think of e-procedure on takeoff.

the thought had crossed my mind, as had getting some floats and landing on lake burleigh griffin, but there's probably laws against that as well!

Thanks for all the advice. I also received an email reply from raa HQ citing CAO 95.55 paragraph 5. As for the Sportstar the main thing seems to be to get the transponder calibrated (there must be another order somewhere saying that it has to be 2nd yearly). I'm hoping to fly between Central west NSW and Canberra - only one ALA to choose from unfortunately.

Hello I have an RAA registered Evektor Sportstar and have a pilot certificate. I am currently doing a GA conversion for a PPL. Does anyone know whether it is possible to fly into controlled airspace, land at places like Bankstown, Canberra etc with an RAA registered plane flown with a GA-PPL licenced pilot? If not, it looks like I'll have to explore the option of converting the plane rego. Regards pj8768
