  1. J170, you don't appear to know very much about Michael O'Leary. He makes statements like that to generate news stories to keep his airline in the news and get free advertising.

I don't think Ryanair have ever paid for TV coverage, but they get loads of it.

The man is a very clever marketer, and he's built a low-cost airline up from a handful of regional jets to the point where they are out performing the Irish flag carrier Aer Lingus.

    .

He still needs a slap. He's a muppet.

  2. There's something seriously suss about all this. I doubt that there would be enough traffic going into Brissy airport to require ANY aircraft to hold for 50 minutes to an hour. Figure it out. If they can land an aircraft approximately every two minutes, how many planes would be up there if the hold was 50 minutes? 25 airplanes holding over Brissy? Really?I think this has nothing to do with traffic and everything to do with what Dazza said.

I think at the time the photo was taken, Brissy was being bashed by storms....

  3. I take it you guys don't believe there are other beings in the universe.Or are your comments just in relation to this particular video?

    Pud

I believe the universe is teaming with life, including intelligent life. Believing they are coming here to diddle our cows and scare hill-billies on lonely country roads is another matter. Aliens, like us are trapped by space and time. I have been involved with 'work' that has from time to time popped up in the media as UFO sightings etc. We (at work) get a great kick out of that. I have seen stuff that would make your jaw drop, but I am not telling......poke_tongue_out.gif.5a7d1a1d57bd049bd5fb0f49bf1777a8.gif

  4. Morning J170. looking at OzRunways it looks like real tiger country from Renmark to Broken Hill. Did you stop in at the hill and did you have an ASIC card. can't see me getting one between now and January.

Yes, Darryl and I stopped for fuel, coffee and donuts. Spent about an hour there and no ASIC. Didn't seem to have any need as the gates were not locked. The ASIC is a complete joke, but I won't go into the details...

  5. In the old days I used the NDB but when I flew back from Bundy via Broken Hill in my Jab, I just used a GPS. I figured if that failed, just follow the ranges down. Going via Renmark might seem a long way but it only adds about 20 minutes flying time (ignoring anytime on the ground at Renmark) 210nm Gawler to Broken Hill, 235nm via Renmark. Between Morgan and BH it is pretty remote and barren, littered with the bleached white bones of aviators who were not prepared.

  6. Hello. Lurking is okay until you start with the black boot polish and black jumpsuit. I see you are more than a days drive from here (Gawler, South Australia) however, might call in for a beer or whatever...

  7. Extremism has become a massive problem in Australia over the last 10 years... In many parts of the culture (Nth Qld for example) this sort of attitude is pretty much standard in smoko rooms... The really ironic thing is the "members" of our society who have fallen to this mind set are usually the ones who are contributing to the decline with their blind ignorance and lack of empathy.... and their calls to stamp out "extremism" ...

    Yea, too true....

  8. I have just ordered a GoPro camera for my J170. I have read that the suction cup mount works on a wing and will not come off. Can anyone give me advice on mounting a camera external to the cockpit. I have ordered the GoPro2

I have a Contour camera and made a bracket from aluminium. Used cable ties to strap that to the wing strut and a bit of mouse pad to prevent the thing scratching the plane. Next time you see me, I'll show you the video (if I remember).
