  1. Thanks Dazza / Ozbear / Thommo / Ian for your input. Yeah, after talking to the owner I think a lot of the SIDS if not done has been confirmed as being passable. I didnt know that the earlier models had the corrsion protection. Thanks Thommo. The SIDS doesnt scare me so long as I can be confident (before purchase) that there is nothing that is going to either cost more than aircraft is worth to fix or cause the aircaft to be junked. What should I be looking for in a Lycoming that has 1300hrs to run?
  2. I have no idea what you mean deborahlwayman.
  3. I am considering buying a Cessna 120. Its bleedin older than I am. I dont want to buy an antique but I dont mind buying something that's old if its fit for purpose. Apart from the obvious, what should I specifically look for ? The plane has rag wings and appears to be in good condition. Any information about this type of aeroplane would be appreciated (good or bad). It is registered 24 - XXXXX Thanks, Dave

    80hp Savannah

Thanks Rank. With the upgrades I assume that the MTOW went to 560kgs. Can the older Savannahs be upgraded to 600kgs?? (Although I am not sure I would want to fly at 600 with 80hp but at least it gives the choice of upgrading to 100hp). Apart from the angle plates behind the seats, were there other upgrades that had to be done to bring it to 560kgs?

    80hp Savannah

Could I have some comments as to what I could expect by buying a Savannah with an 80hp Rotax as distinct from the 100hp. Obviously performance will be adversly affected but are there any life threatening quirks that might be encountered? Are there any plusses??
  6. Is it within the LSA - RAA rules to have a variable pitch prop on an ultra light?
  7. Thanks SBF. Between yours and BW's posts and photos the knowledge base is going up expotentialy.
  8. As if milking cows at some ungodly hour of the morning and then working on the plane till 2am isnt enough, you still have time to religiously post your latest exploits. I for one certainly apprecaite it BW.
  9. Hey BW I might be talking cr.....p here but you wanted brainstorming. It sounds like you pulled the D box sheet onto the ribs and got it sitting right and then set up the washout. Do you not think that you should set up the washout first, in case the D box holds the wing in its original position (without washout)???
  10. Really interesteing threads BW. Am preparing to build a Cheetah in the near future (taildragger) and your posts are inspirational. I can't imagine the hours that it will save following someone elses trials and tribulations. Keep the photos coming, there cant be too many. Regards, Dave
  11. Shees, if Andy wasn't confused before I bet he is now Dieselten, but good answer all the same.
