Those of us Tony
who have but sat on the side lines while you and others of similar ilk and motivation have invested the time, the effort and the dollars in such tasks can but offer you our thank you
our words of thanks are such trivial things
but they are what we have to offer and we
offer them with sincerity and admiration.
best of wishes
David Hill.

I did not build my Skyranger but I do have a CD of a build manual produced and regularly updated in the UK.
.
If I want to check up on something I first read it on the computer and if I need to check that info against the actual aircraft I just print off the relevant pages and take them to the airfield.
.
If those pages get dirty, torn, scribbled on or lost it is of no matter because I can easily replace them.
.
And because the CD is up dated every now and again I can down load either a complete fresh copy or the relevant amended files.
.
As the end user I find it a very convenient system.
The author/publisher does not have to to pay for printing nor stock holding costs.
Considering the very small market for these volumes I would presume that there is no real profit for the author in either system.
just thinking

have you considered not printing
but issuing the text as a CD?
just a thought

Be aware however that what is marketed as brand XXX formulation YYY in one market ie USA is not necessarily the same as a similarly labeled bottle in another market ie Australia. For those who may have not seen it, this is quite a good article on oil for the Rotax 912.http://www.sportpilot.org/magazine/feature/2004%20-%2010%20October%20-%20Power%20On.pdfDavidh

My understanding is that ownership confers a level 1 maintainer's entitlement ie you can work on your own plane.
.
A level 2 can work on others' aircraft after completing the necessary paperwork with the RAA to convince them that the necessary skills and experience are present.
.
RAA office will provide the necessary documentation re transfer of ownership and securing a level 2 endorsement.

which is why you need and instructor who is RAA and GA qualified and is working under the AOC of a school that entitles him/her to so instruct.Whilst you are a student under instruction prior to receipt of your pilot certificate then the instructor is PIC.Mike.
But for a BFR I think that the candidate is PIC although I am not sure if ICUS or not.

If you can use your radio in that environment then you should be able to use the phone. I have the microphone permanently set in the ear cup with a piece of foam and the set up does not in any way that I can perceive degrade the noise attenuation or the workings of the intercom or the VHFHi,But do you think it would be suitable in an open cockpit high noise environment? Maybe I'll try it next week!!Azhar

cell phone & headset
I have great success with the standard ear bud "portable handsfree" that comes with most cell phones. Originally with a Nokia and with my current Motorola unit.
.
1..Place ear bud in ear
2..place microphone inside the headset ear cup
.
simple
works
does not interfere with avionics
price is right

For years I have operated on the "8 hours bottle to throttle" mantra.
What are the actual regulations as apply to private flying?
Is there a difference for RAA and GA administered flights?
Is there a specified blood alcohol limit in the regulations governing
private flying?.

Sexy ? ?

Wanted a camera for in flight use,
ideals
fast response digital
reasonably high pixel count;- to allow cropping rather than a need for poster sized prints
easily used left or right handed
easily used single handed
manual control options
any suggestions?
any other criteria that should be considered?
many thanks

A lot of the bad PR is our own fault. Just listen in to two pilots at a party. Do they tell long involved tales of how last Sunday they fired up the Rotax , had an enjoyable 30 mins scenic flight, stopped in where they knew they could get a coffee and then had a glorious sunset flight home again. No!!! All we tend to talk about is the "scary" stuff. Can we really blame our associates for thinking that it is all scary stuff?.
Re introducing the reluctant passenger. I have several times invited a skeptic out to assist me in a routine service/ aircraft wash or whatever. After they have spent an hour or so actually touching the aircraft and discover that it is all a pretty basic machine with principles that seem at first sight easily related to motor cars etc, and that you are serious about the standard of maintainence service they are much more comfortable with the idea.
Then when you say you are going to take it for a quick circuit those that have not already volunteered to be ballast will be easily be persuaded.

As I understand it any hours in ANY recognised (by CASA or an agency delegated by CASA) aircraft will count. But you can't log IFR hours in a non IFR aircraft.
to quote from a letter that I received re flight testing.
>>>>>>>>>
To answer your second question, yes you can do an Aeroplane Flight Review with a GA instructor in any aeroplane recognised and/or registered provided that the school's AOC reflects flying training as part of its authorisation and there are provisions in the organisations Operations Manual to capture this activity, a matter for you to discuss with the CFI of the flying school.
I hope this helps, your sincerely

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
From that I conclude that one could go from ab initio to full GA ticket without ever sitting in a VH registered aircraft provided that your instructor/examiner was licensed on both RAA and VH aircraft and was working for a school with the appropriate AOC..
