  1. If Sydney Airport Corp (aka Macquarie Bank) paid $4.2b for Sydney Airport,..... up and running, with it's multiple runways, terminals etc.

Why would it even consider spending $8b - $9b for a single airport runway, might not have a curfew (Yet), but it does have

a runway use condition (Politically attached) where aircraft will take off and land from the same direction. (To/From the West)

How many movements will that be per hour ??

Sco Mo said in an interview that he hoped Superannuation Companies may consider it and come on board, but he qualified with

"It's not always the bottom line". so even the Govt is aware of it being a failure financially.

  2. You have to take into account the Amish approach to aviation engineering.

It was not that long ago that all the Amish Society of Engineers came out to bag a builder who cabled tied an electrical cable to a fuel line.

That was in spite of the fact that since the late nineties, millions of cars are driving around with an electric pump that is mounted inside the fuel tank without incident.

Here we are in 2017 and the only accepted method of spark generation is from technology that was used to power a putt putt boat.

    Now that's a rant !!!

  3. Weight and Balance qualification only lasts 2 two years with CASA. I suggest that applies here too. Any thoughts?

This is what I heard and it makes sense.

The Weight & Balance formula we use, is solely based on Archimedes (287 bc) Law of the Lever.

The current formula was translated from his works that were stored on his Commodore 64 using tapes, as he could not afford the

    disk drive accessory.

Historians believe that before his death in (212/211 bc) he may have swapped over to a PC

    and did a Windows Version.

So as both CASA and RAA are dynamic in their management styles

, they placed a 2 year validity on the current format (In case the Windows version pops up)

  4. I'm with you Riley,

I can do a "Can Do" a weight & balance by using a proven method, but I would look like a dummy in trying to prove it on paper

    with this new-age method.

So if I need to do another, I will do it, and when it's right to go, get a new-age technical correct (With the qualification type of person)

to come and sign the paperwork.

    Happy Days !!

  5. They will get back to you.

    One would hope so, But..........

I did my first attempt back in October and bombed out by one question.and was notified of a fail.

Later that evening, I did the second attempt, and with a new set of sensible questions, I blitzed it with only

one question wrong, and the hallowed Green Tick appeared, but no notifications. (But I took 2 Screen Shots of my achievement.)

After 2 weeks of nothing, I rang RAA just to ensure the second attempt was recorded, and I was assured it was.

Forward to Jan 2017 and I receive my membership renewal, and take a guess of what's not showing ??????

My passing of the Level 1 Maintainers Authority.

Armed with my screenshots, I can't wait for the office to open tomorrow.

  6. On second read........

The $110.00 freight was included in the $568.00.

So the $2200.00 injector pump (Here), left the factory at $450.00 (And they still made money on it.)

Plus I got a full parts list, technical specs, and a fully detailed step by step instructions on How to covert a Bosch system to a Delphi/ Lucas CAV

    system, Including timing set up.

In Au all you get is the pump in a sealed bag and directed to a diesel mechanic to work it all out.

If you want to stay with Bosch, you will have to get the current the Va4 pump for

$3,500.00 (Because the parts for the older Bosch pumps are obsolete)

Be Careful It's a jungle out there !!!!

  7. I see the original post is about 12 months old, and there is a new player on the block.

    World First.

World First | International Money Transfers

I used them a couple of months ago to bring in a new diesel injector pump for the tractor we use to mow the strips.

Here, it's available off the shelf in a factory sealed bag from Qld for $AU2,200.00

Deal direct with the manufacturer in Romania, and it was delivered in a factory sealed bag in a well padded box, by TNT Airfreight for

    $AU568.00. (Freight was $AU110.00)

A classic example of where Agents only add to the price of a product, without improving it in any way)

The all up costs for using World First was $20,00 and they have offices in Australia, so you get assigned an employee who keeps you informed by either emails or mobile phone.

If you know you have a purchase coming up, you can view the fluctuation with the currency exchange and lock the deal in without putting the money up front.

It was a hard to decide who offered the best service, World First, Mefin in Romania or TNT Airfeight (With their continual updates of where my pump was)

  8. I am still confused about the whole thing.

Up to last year, I was a environmental vandal, by having a slow combustion wood heater.

Every year, they would come after me with torches and pitch forks, and site the pollution and

health issues I and others like me were causing to people and the environment.

Every year the during Winter, the local Council would put this big banner up across the main

street calling for an end to wood heaters. 054_no_no_no.gif.950345b863e0f6a5a1b13784a465a8c4.gif

Then this year, some Govt Dept announces that wood is a natural process of carbon, so therefore

it's a renewable energy, and the most cost effective way to heat a house is by using a slow combustion

    wood heater.

    Now I'm a Greenie !!!!!! giggle.gif.9fbf2613564ad555277246f6add2d17e.gif

Did anyone else notice the absence of health issues and pollution problems caused by home fires on the news during this Winter ?

If I were a cynic, I would say it's a Govt Ploy to do with Power Generation............

Get people off the grid, and they can use the reduction to say how well they doing in meeting their targets.065_evil_grin.gif.2006e9f40863555e5894f7036698fb5d.gif

  9. I agree that DAMP is pretty much aimed at the "big end of town", and really shouldn't bother anyone with a bit of common sense, that said RAA is trying very hard to emulate " the big end of town", and if you were to have a bingle or incursion and were found to have alcohol in your system, I reckon they might go out of their way to make an example. In defence contractor maintenance, they will do what they can to help you if you get busted once, but the second time, you will be unemployed very quickly.

If you think DAMP is only for the big end of town, then How do you explain the fact that The Oaks (Privately owned strip ) has been visited twice in the last couple of years by

testers and victims got subjected to both tests ?

So think twice before you decide on a hanger party.......

  10. Ah the memories !!

Back in the 70's you had to book your lesson about a week ahead, then arrive and sit in the

lounge area and wait your turn.

It was more like a modern day medical clinic where multiple instructors would come and get

    the next student.

Then there was the big Xmas party held in the adjacent hanger.

  11. OK, I may be dumb, but Where did technology and innovation create jobs?

Lets start a list of what occupations have gone South since technology arrived.

The humble ticket writer that every big supermarket had went.

Tech Drawing is a thing of the past.

Machinists not needed as we have lathes that you just mount the billet, press go, and walk away.

Even the humble Garbo is down to 1 man per truck

  12. I don't believe this.......

A new organisation is being rumored to come onto the scene to offer an alternative, and everybody is lining up to sue them.

If they (the new organisation), read all this, Do you think they would rethink their intentions?

  13. Can't see it myself, would require a huge rewrite of the regulations to make it legal.

There's more to here than just re-writng regulations at stake here...........

CASA has come under severe criticism lately, and has had continual accusations thrown at it regarding being responsible for the falling registrations and a dying aviation industry.

Easy Fix. Bring in a new self administering organisation and let the people who join it use VH Rego's. Then CASA can report back to the Govt. that

Aircraft rego's are rising sharply so the industry must be thriving under their new changes and approach. Where in reality, there are no extra aircraft and other than "Duck Shoving" their liability onto the new organisation, very few changes. .

With Govt polliies inter twined with Bureaucrats.... Do you really expect anything good to come out of it, other than another episode of Yes Minister ?????

  14. On a second read, it looks like CASA are putting another step between them and litigation.

RAA was not mentioned because we are already self administrating.

Lets say a builder of an oversize R/C aircraft wants permission to operate his model.

At present he needs an approval and permit from CASA. If things go pear shaped with his model, both the owner and CASA

    are prime targets for litigation.

But if the MAAA becomes Self Administrating, the builder would apply to the MAAA for permission and approval, then if it goes pear shaped, the Owner

and MAAA are prime targets, and CASA can claim immunity, because they didn't need to know, but as a Regulator, they will now take action.
