  1. Hi '46, have you tried Nick Challinor at Mothcair in Murwillumbah, NSW? He may have what you're after, if not probably can find it, have his number somewhere but if you google it he should come up, good luck!

  2. Just wondering if anyone can provide a figure as asked, in dollar terms what would you be looking at per hour? $20, $30, $40 or more? Ignoring finance but say include insurance, no worried about Hangarage as that is changes all too much. Cheers!

  3. G'Day Greg, What a bloody shame, I was in Brisbane on Monday and Tuesday! Definitely keen to go for a run in one though! I may be in Brisbane around Feb so if nothing happens prior I'll be in touch!

  4. Hi Greg, I've been trying to decide on what to buy, I've gone up from Thruster/X-Air and looked t Morgan Cheetah/Sierra and also considering the Swift and or Nynja, I particularly like the panel on VH-ELJ, what instrumentation did you put in and is that carbon dash layout standard or an option?

  5. Hi Spriteah I am looking at what to buy, looking at X-Air Std for an entry level buy, through to Jab LSA/X-Air Hanuman mid level and Morgan Sierra at the high end, I like the look of the Hanuman, did you build it yourself or you buy second hand? If you did build it what was the build like? How does it fly and what are some rough costs in terms of build and operating?

  6. Hi, probably not the right area for it but is there any way we could index the incidents and accidents by aircraft type? Would just be interesting as I am looking at buying my first a/c and speaking to different people (pilots, L2's, lamey's) I get different responses but am hearing some peculiar things about specific aircraft, I'm looking to see if there are any trends or anything about specific types etc, anyway I realise this post is in the wrong location but just thought I'd bring it up, cheers!

  7. Hi Guys, I think I have narrowed my dream machine down to the X-Air Hanuman, chances are I'll end up having to settle for the X-Air standard (would love one! lol). Anyone want to trade for a 300HP Jetski that does 80MPH? What is the lifespan of the skins on these? Also what is the maint sched like? What are op costs on the td and hanuman? Thanks.

  8. Hi Guys,

Thinking of looking at buying myself an X-Air, not after copious amounts of speed, something reasonably comfortable and safe, to use between places like Sydney - Taree or Sydney - Orange. X-Air seems to be fitting my needs. Was in the process of planning a trip to Taree in a PA28 today and noted the TAF has MOD TURB for this afternoon, how would someone flying an X-Air to Taree today go? Is something like MOD TURB the sort of thing that gets you reconsidering your need to go???

Also if anyone knows of any X-Air's for sale please let me know, have seen the one in the RAA mag, thanks guys.

  9. Hi CFI,

Well I am somewhat interested in why "minimalist" style of flying cost's roughly the same as ordinary GA from which I am coming, if I decided to do my certificate etc and purchase a trike what would I be looking at to fly it on an hourly basis? My concern is that the cost is not much different to normal GA aircraft, which is why I'm getting out of GA flying, I was under the impression anything less than GA was mch more affordable, am I reading it wrong? Also, where I fly currently has enthusiastic, eager and experienced guys keen to indulge in big adventures, extremely experienced instructors, great facilities etc so I don't get why a machine that cost's so much less cost's the same to learn in...

  10. You're all too funny guys! LOL

I'm quite intrigued by it, don't mind the slower speeds and happy to learn till I'm comfortable in them but don't understand why they're nearly as much as much older/much more complex GA style a/c like C150's etc...

  11. Hey guys,

Been looking at alternative ways to get in the air a bit cheaper than the old Warriors etc which are now renting for the $200 plus mark. Love the idea of Microlights but can't understand why most places charge at least $190 an hour dual for them, surely they aren't the expensive to run??????

  12. HI All,

I'm interested in doing my trike rating and keen to purchase something to get me airborne. I am reading with interest though posts about requirements to overhaul engines every three hundred hours, and replaces masts etc every however long, realistically what is an average hourly operating cost taking all the things that need to be overhauled/replaced/repaired into account, I'd be looking at flying quite regularly, thanks.

  13. There's no option for 6 minute markers

Was always taught by my instructors 6 minute markers, I still remember Bill Whitworth giving me the rounds on 6 minute marker's over everything else. If it was good enough for Bill and the boys to pass on and have the reputation for IFR training they do then it's good enough for me ;).
