  1. Its been awhile since i have written a post in here - might have to start changing this. .

My last flight was a trip in a JAB230D - from YORG to YTRE ( 30Mar 18) - i have been working in Bathurst for REX as a ground handler and not been home for 4 weeks, i didn't fancy the terrible long trip, delays from traffic etc.

Luckily a mate had a JAB for hire - an easy under 2-hour flight, smooth as can be and a tailwind. I was happy to be on the ground in Taree - Good Friday by 1030am. Spent 2 days relaxing with family to fly back on Easter Sunday - again smooth conditions and 2 hour flight time.

Since moving to Taree i don't do anywhere as much flying as I did when working as an instructor in Bathurst with Central West Flying . I take the option of going for a buzz as much as possible when i get a chance.

See image of Lake Saint claire park on way back Sunday.

  4. I find RA OZrunways very accurate, i fly near R583A and B a lot and Ozrunways been spot on , even though have called B centre to be sure , always correct . Fantastic Hybrid VFR .

PearoI don't agree, I fly most days very close to Oakey RA Oz runways gets it right 99% of the time and Notams are just as accurate, what you find with Oz runways there is about 90 sec lag from going active and also from deactivating.

If you find yourself inside a restricted area and it becomes active call centre or airways clearance delivery and let them know who you are, where you are, where you are going, what altitude you are maintaining and whether you are transponder equipped they will help you out. You won't end up with a please explain or VCA (whatever that stands for).

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere. Good outcome (except for the bird):

  6. A laugh at some of the comments here.. - i interviewed Mike and filmed for prime news (and some vision from nine was mine ) when he was out of hospital . He was a character i will say and a nice guy , so lucky to survive. I put Mike up in my house for a few days with his dog - he spent a few days cleaning his plane from the crap which was inside. Let me say , it stank too.

    Glad to see he survived.

on another note, i actually talked to Mike In mudgee on xmas day as he was refuelling his plane, i had flown over myself for lunch with friend . Approx 115pm i get phone calls asking if i was ok - people had known i was in mudgee wondered if it was me and was i safe back in Bx . ! Shocked to hear this had happened and when i arrived back in bhs - to see photos of said plane and i had talked to mike .

I had seen another eagle approx 15 miles south of Mudgee on way back .

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uY1wdD49Bl8 - Prime news footage - all my vision from the Sunday after he was released from Hospital .

well done Mike for keeping it calm and living through ordeal .

  8. I just bought a GoPro hero 2. How is the unit attached and to where? What settings are you using on the camera? I want to use the GoPro on the wing not inside the cockpit.

Sorry i didnt see this comment. I used a suction cup attached to camera underneath wing, stays attached as long as you do above 8000 ft, pressure difference will release it quick smart, i learnt hard way losing one over Blue mtns. Some guys have a way to secure them if the suction does let go. So good to see view from out on wing no window to obstruct the perfect view.
