  1. Icebob Been to this website, i've emailed him and am awaiting response Thanks for your interest. Being an ex boat person i suggest a CQR anchor in the absence of brakes, probably wont stop you but you can do some ploughing in process!!
  2. Andrew, I found a web site with a number of builders on and e-mailed them, all came back undelivered, two others still waiting for response. I am waiting for approval to join an a-plane forum site. There are a number of planes out there, but i'll bet they're not registered. Looks like the build is going to be easier than the data collection.
  3. Hi Andrew I agree, its a great starter plane. I've gone over the plans and they are straight forward enough. Some parts are not very clear, but i expect they will reveal themselves in the build. i will be speaking to RA-Aus this week about submitting the plans for approval. I will keep you informed. My build will be slow as i don't really have the room, and my wife won't let me move the furniture!! As far as legality is concerned, if the plans are approved and you don't deviate from them, then there should be no problem when you come to register it Jonp
  4. andrew, good to know i'm not alone on the affordaplane here in australia.. I am buildind a data base of suppliers throughout Australia and the U.S. and intend to start building within the next few months, once i have approval from RA-Au. jonp
  5. Neil Is penfield a club, cos i can't locate it on the interweb. I plan on learning to fly at geelong sports aviators at the end of this year, but a club closer to hand would be ideal. Jonp
  6. Monty Avondale Heights is North Melbourne, about 20 minutes from the airport and aircraft metals, i have their latest catalogue with prices if anyone is interested
  7. Hi all, Just landed here. After many years putting off flying cos i could't justify cost, i've finally come to my senses. RA flying is affordable, and if you are mechanically minded so is building your own a/c. I have the plans for the affordaplane and have just done a rough costing of materials. Airframe and wing structure come to about $3500. This is without all the bells and whistles like covering, engine and instruments paint etc, but if planned carefully it can be built in stageswithout breaking the bank. As you Aussies say "Have a fair go", ( i'm a Pom by the way,but who cares!)
