Hi is there some one who could please help with a bit of theory on the concept of under-banking during a descending turn and how the inner wing into the turn has a higher angle of attack creating lift to counter the lift created by the higher speed of the outer wing.

I hope soAhh, I know THAT feeling. Don't push it, eventually she'll come round (hopefully). After 5 years, my wife is contemplating her third flight with me. The conditions have to be just perfect, and she has the advantage of time on her side.Peter -
LOL:roflmao:Will she go flying with you though.? Nev -
Yep that is the big question. I already have had many put them selves on the waiting list but the one who I would like to be she just wont be in it.Congrats 348! Well done! Now the big question will be "Who's going to be the first pax?" -
thanksCongratulations 348 " as the Toyota ad says, "Oh what a feeling"Well done, another milestone of many along the way.Kind regards

I meant in the fixed wing for the tips on the ride through the turbulence.

I see you fly from Mangalore I came over there not to long ago and did a TIF in a R22 there with Han from Kestrel . I really liked it but the $ and the distance from home put me off.
Apart from weight have you any tips on making the ride better? or is it just time to get used to it?

Thanks for your thoughts they were much appreciated. LOL:roflmao: But the early winters morning sounds good:thumb up:Not a problem 348.My over-weight mother-in-law will be arriving at your place tomorrow at 0600hrs, and it'll be like an early winters morning flight for you, and I only charge 20 bucks an hour for her services. If the truth be known, i'd even send her for free, just to get get out of the house.

OkI think you could, didn't go though. My flying instructor decided it wasn't worth all the hassle and closed for 2 weeks -
That would be different, so can you get in for a look? The World rally is on here, and they have turned the GA section of the airport into a giant outdoor workshop for cars. -
I think I need a 80 kg sand bag for when I am solo, or visit Mc Donalds a lot more. The extra weight makes the plane less responsive to gusts etc .Nev -
Are they doing some upgrades?Only about 4.8 at the moment, not being helped by the fact that the GA section of the airport is essentially closed till the 16th... -
Thanks I thought I was alright with the turbulence also until I went solo also I find it handles much differently when I am Solo very climby and takes a bit more to persuade it to come down not that that is a problem. I just some times wonder if I am creating my own turbulence or it is all to do with weight difference. How many hours have you done?Welcome! I'm fairly new to this flying thing too, haven't gone solo yet. I have gotten used to turbulence though, seeing as approaching one of the runways here usually resembles a rollercoaster ride due to thermals and such from wetlands. It may be somewhat different when my instructor decides to jump out though!Congrats on going solo! -
Adelaide not far from YADG ALDINGAWhen you say over my way, do you mean Adelaide or Guernsey.Alan Marriette. -
Thanks for the Tip I always notice the weight change when my instructor gets out and it does seem to make a big difference with the fuel full. I was out flying in the local training area solo and left with full tanks and was quite comfortable but after about a hour an on returning even the slight weight difference and the increased warmth of the afternoon I had noticed a difference. I hope to get more used to it soon but I imagine as you say it may take some acclimatisation. Thanks TimWith 4-stroke trikes, it is useful to ensure you have at least 40 litres in the tank if one up as the extra weight helps with turbulence. That is why is is worse when the instructor climbs out. You lose some of the inertia that is a feature of the increased mass. With 2-stroke trikes, that have a smaller tank, people often take Jerry with them (a Jerry can filled with water strapped in the pax seat).I'm not familiar with the characteristics of the Tecnam, but you may find a similar effect if you ensure the tanks are filled more for solo flights as we get to the warmer weather.
There's plenty of people who simply don't fly in Summer between about 11:00 and 16:00 to avoid the worst part of the turbulence. It can be quite uncomfortable and it depends on the individual as to whether they want to put up with it or not, and yes, it does take some acclimatisation.

I have had that told to me may times that the hot weather will the increase the turbulence but I am hoping to get more used to it before then.Wait until it's hot! Like flying in a washing machine - but you'll get used to it. -
I was up your way today at KyabramWelcome to the forums Tim. I haven't flown to Bendigo yet, but it isn't that far (2 hours by car). I'm pretty sure there's a couple of other forumites from Bendigo too. -
sounds good it was a bit wild down here today for a bit.Yes, Welcome Tim! We always like to hear about a new victim to our shared addiction. On a day like today when you'd really rather not be flying then you can always get a fix and learn some here. -
I will keep a look out, just out of interest I am originally from over your way.Hi Tim:welcome: yes there are other forumites in Bendigo we know of one who is currently building a Morgan Sierra.Alan. -
Yep I have found the same they like to climb:welcome:Welcome Tim, I am a lurker on this site and trained for my RA on a Tecnam. I found the biggest problem with the Tecnam was getting it out of the sky, it just loves to fly  -
All good so far thanksWelcome to the Forum Family, 348! I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience -
ThanksYo Tim! Hope you enjoy... -
