  1. This is becoming more pathetic by the day.Did you asked RA-Aus for the audit reports first? Or have you just given up on asking our lords and masters for any information?

If you want a financial contribution towards the costs of information that should have been provided to the membership by RA-Aus, I would happily contribute.

Why don't you just ask the sacked tech manager what happened in the audit.

  2. PeopleA number of you have indicated that while you support the call for a GM and the opportunity to question why things are as they are, you wouldnt be able to attend a meeting in Canberra. I understand that and accept it with some sadness because your attendance would have added to the value of the meeting.

Im trying to understand what will keep you away to see if there is something we can do to address that.

As such here is poll of reasons and possible options, please vote for as many of these as are applicable and if you feel inclined post a commentary to support your position

    Regards

    Andy

Andy can a video conference count as being at the meeting, people who cannot attend may be able to organize a video conference at the local aero club or function facility and the cost should be paid by RA-Aus as it is beneficial that as many people can be present to hear what will happen and vote, we may have to have an official present at each video conference location but it would be worth organising to save our great Organisation from any more abuse by the exec and board.

    Just an idea"

  3. Why don't you read the Tech Managers Duty Statement in the Tech Manual. It's not an engineering position and having someone with 20 plus years working on all types of GA and Defence aircraft (hands on) is better than a pen pusher engineer. I have worked with Adam on and off over the last ten years on our RA-Aus and AUF aircraft, he was more concerned about safety and aeronautical practices than most LAME,s being a LAME my self I am quite happy to say that. Does the treasurer need to be an accountant or the president a politician, we need to look at the plebs that are controlling our great Organisation not the ones who actually were doing there job, as I have said on another post I know of some horrible skeletons in our closet that have not appeared yet, now is the time to have the exec dumped and put someone like John Gardon who used to run things back in, he was heading us in the right direction for our growing Organisation.

  4. I notice that the president has appologised on behalf of RAAUS for the delays in registrations. Why not appologise on behalf of himself and the CEO for the mess. I dont like to think I'm partly responsible for the delays as a RAAUS member.

The funny thing is the President has known all along the issues with the RA-Aus Technical Department since doing the to the old Tech manager what he did to Adam Finn. Make the exec open all the flood gates on all the current legal actions and ones that are coming so the members know what is really going on in their Organisation then see how long they last, I think we have more storms brewing and nasty ones at that.

  5. Sorry all I am a bit forum illiterate, I meant to reply to John and say the Tech manager was sacked with no reason and did not resign.

Will work out what went wrong and fix the formating - Mod

Done - Use the report post button if it's not to your satisfaction.

  6. So who is keen to create a real organization that is run by the members for the members and not a buch of clowns. Adam I'm sure would be able to help out on the technical side, I'm sure Zane or Jill could handle operations. The regulations are in place already so all we need is a body of people to support the birthing process. It can,t hurt as most of us will be grounded soon and just before Xmas too. Thanks RA-Aus board you guys rock.

  7. Mike, an SLSA ( 24-XXXX ) can and will become a ELSA ( 19-XXXX ) if it becomes non-complient. No LSA can become Std RAAus or Std VH.Just to make all of this more confusing there is a VH SLSA and VH ELSA. Aircraft can be transfered from VH LSA to RAAus LSA and visa versa pending LAME / L2 inspections and the manditory heap of paperwork.

A manufacturer discontinueing a type will not cause any problems as long as they are prepared to continue supporting they type with Safety Bulletins and monitor the airworthyness of the type. It is when that support & monitoring is no longer there ( manufaturer goes out of business ) that the aircraft will become ELSA ( 19-XXXX ).

E/LSA are not 19-xxxx they are E24-xxxx as they are not amateur built ie:19-xxxx. I think it's in the RA-Aus technical manual, just happen to be talking early this week with the Tech guys at the RA-Aus office.

  8. There is supposedly to be a meeting tomorrow between CASA & RAAus to sort this s$it out, is what we little people are being told.If any of you have had the privelege of flying across this beautifful country to Birdsville, & taxied down to the end of the airstrip, where you could walk over to the pub a few steps away, to quench a must needed thirst, there is a sign on the wall that reads:

    "Free beer tomorow"

Don't hold your breath fellows & gals that all will be fixed with the waving of the magic wand tomorrow at this window dressing meeting, because what we may see in the window is not what is actually going on behind the curtains which is an ugly saga which RAAus does not want us to see the real picture.

I say again that if the elected RAAus Board members & CEO have the guts & fortitude to face this disaster head on , then they should appoint an interim Adminsitrator in the meantime , then they should resign & for the interim Administrator to call an extroadinary general meeting for a new board to be elected & for those existing Board members who have a conscience & are directly responsibile for there incompoetence & negligence for having allowed the RAAus to be brought into disrepute, then they should voluntarily stand aside to exlude themselves from nominating for the new Board & furthermore ,just as they have previously decided in their so called wisdom to try & exclude the renewal of this sites admininstrator from renewing his membership, which efforts failed, & its like pissing in the wind, because what goes around comes around, then they should now step aside & have the best interests of the RAAus at heart to let the organisation progress rather than trying to protect their own asses.096_tongue_in_cheek.gif.d94cd15a1277d7bcd941bb5f4b93139c.gif

Nicely put John, bring on a new board.

  9. I think we should just chill and have faith in the staff on the front line, like the girls in the office and the tech manager, ops manager and the admin manager that are the ones holding the RA-Aus together while the elected board members sit back and watch it all collapse. What ever happens after Monday we should all support the front line workers that have to put this back together. From a conversation I have had with the TM on Friday it's going to be a paperwork nightmare so we should strap in for the ride.

  10. Just got off the phone tonight with the TM, and all aircraft transfers, renewals and new rego,s are on hold till CASA notify them. Seems the paperwork over the last 5 years or so is up to crap. Seems we better enjoy this weekend of flying it could be the last for a while. :(

  11. I was talking to Phil Goard yesterday morning and he was telling me that his company, PG Aviation (Cowra, NSW) have just developed a firewall forward system for Jabiru aircraft which allows owners of 230’s, 430’s, all class 19 Jabirus or indeed the owner of RAAus category 24 Jabirus, to fit the Rotax or Lycoming engines instead of the standard Jabiru 3300 engine. This is a big deal for Jabiru owners who now have the option of installing the 100hp Rotax 912 ULS engine or the Lycoming O-235 or the new 115hp Lycoming O-233.

So Jabiru owners can enjoy the peace of mind that comes from knowing that they now have three incredibly reliable engines to choose from. As part of the kit, PG Aviation can also supply the Rotax or Lycoming engine for the Jabiru.

(Jabiru owners whose aircraft is currently registered in category 24 wanting to install the Rotax or Lycoming engine will need to change to category 19. However for many owners this will not represent a problem at all, but it does rule out commercial training as an option if you do change engines).

In addition to fitting the Jabiru with a Rotax or Lycoming engine, P.G. Aviation can also supply a new and strengthened nose wheel oleo for the Jabiru airframe.

PG Aviation’s main claim to fame is that they manufacture hard, or impossible, to get parts for general aviation aircraft.

    P.G. Aviation can be contacted at (02) 6341 1635 or internationally on +61 2 6341 1635.

  12. Folks,Right about now I am even more disillusioned with the performance of RA Aus management and again ask serious questions as to why the Board continues to tolerate poor performance and alleged arrogant defiance of Board directives. I could label this the “CEO triumphs over the Board will …”.

The following new information apparently not readily known has come to my attention. I am certain this information will acutely interest members who have for some time been requesting their Board representatives take the necessary steps to have the ATSB investigate our accidents in order to provide a timely safety interim report among other advantages the ATSB provides. I know the Board collectively supported this, but was curious as to why no traction was evident.

In the middle of the last Board Meeting held in February this year, a number of VIPs were invited for drinks and dinner at the social evening held. Included in the guests was Martin Dolan, Chief Commissioner of the ATSB.

Martin Dolan let it be known (informally), that there was a brief ‘window of opportunity’ for RA-Aus investigations to come under the ATSB jurisdiction. This would allow more co-operation between the ATSB and RA-Aus and thus, presumably better investigations and the release of a preliminary report after 30 days as happened with the Old Bar accident. It would also mean that anything found in an ATSB sponsored investigation is not allowed to be used for prosecutions. This is a measure to ensure that people can be totally honest when giving evidence without the fear of incrimination.

At the Board Meeting, this matter was raised and strongly supported, apparently especially by John McKeown, who reinforced what a good initiative this would be. It is alleged that Zane Tully interjected that having RA-Aus investigations done under the auspices of the ATSB would be a bad thing because RA-Aus would not be able to use their investigation to prosecute wrong doers; his statement was allegedly supported by our CEO Steve Tizzard. Apart from my personal opinion as to the inappropriateness of having the Ops manager and CEO in a Board meeting, I would speculate that Zane and Steve’s agreement on this matter may in fact reflect more a CASA mentality of prosecution as a higher priority over getting information to the RA community.

To the credit of our Board, they wanted it to happen and the CEO was directed accordingly.

Recently, under questioning on this matter, the President reported to the Board that the Secretary had done nothing about it after months of the CEO ignoring the Board’s direction.

The ATSB issue was a matter of great concern to the membership and we had in fact been asking for ATSB involvement for some time. Readers may recall a member some time back posted on this forum that he had written to his representative requesting the Board move to have the ATSB investigate our accidents and our overwhelming support of his initiative.

I think it is time that we RA Aus members asked our representative Board members to press the President to call the CEO to account as to why a Board directive has been ignored at the arguable detriment of the membership.

I would like to know whose side RA Aus management are on and if they understand they are accountable to the Board who in turn are accountable to the membership.

Your thoughts on this matter please …?

    Regards,

  13. While flying a week or so ago my instructor told me to reduce revs due to the risk of damage to the timber prop in the rain. While taxing and running up you have to be very careful of stone damage. Why do we use timber props and not an alloy or carbon fibre prop?

Wooden props absorb more vibration than metal & composite ones, which in turn create less vibration to the engine components.
