Last time I rang the number in Ersa I was told sorry but the perception is that RA certificate holders are not as well trained as GA and I could not land there

OscarKyle, I have no idea why you would have taken such offence at a suggestion that Ian Bent might be at CAMit over the Christmas break and would quite possibly be happy to show you around if you happened to be in the area at the time. He just is that sort of person anyway and is very proud of his operation, with good reason. He was prepared to come in from home and open the place on a weekend to allow my co-owner and I to keep on working on our engine rebuild when I was last up there, to drop what he was working on when we needed something special for our somewhat 'bitzer' build, and to show us the FEA analysis, CAD drawings etc. behind changes (and to check that changed components would work properly in the case of our specific engine), to teach us how to machine cases and heads, to make jigs and tooling himself because some parts of our engine were older than the engines for his existing jigs and tools.I have to agree with you Ian is one of natures gentlemen and always happy to help

From what I can gather my plane will not be affected by this proposed draftDCM Is it classed as a Jabiru engine or not in light of this proposed instrument. Or do you not know.Cheers Geoff13David

Fitted mine about 5 weeks ago it's serial number 0020 in the new engines but I don't know how many upgraded Jab engines are getting aroundHow many engines to CAMit have in operation? -

I have 700 meters at 600 feet above sea level and regularly get off the ground in 300 meters but will admit that I have gone around quite a few times due to not being happy with my approach but I don't have anywhere near 400 landings ,have had a 172/150 in and out with no problems

Merry and safe Christmas to all best of luck in the new year

Spoke to R A Aus on Wednesday and it appears that an online exam is not sufficient in CASAs eyes and a practical component may be needed as well so the link has been removed from the website

Another book that I found very interesting is called Wings on my sleeves by Captain Eric Brown it describes his career as a test pilot for the RAF in the closing stages of WW2 he flew a lot of the captured aircraft

Thanks for that Andy that is the other thing I was wondering about the living in the area and representing itI got it from an ex members rep because I couldn't find it either. I also couldn't find anything that says you actually have to live in the are you represent so someone living in Tweed heads for example could probably effectively deal NSW or SQLD.........Andy -
A few hundred km west in Clermontwhere abouts are you DCM? I'm in walkerston.. we need to get a few more pilots up here -
Thanks for that I wasn't able to find it anywhere and it puts me about on the fence so to speak
